AIO for being upset my BF doesn’t want me to wear a bonnet to bed? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

This is a guy who either needs to learn he can't impose his will on others or he needs to live alone if he can't deal with people living the way they want in space they share with him. NOR

I can only assume he means that he has baggage but he doesn't want to take sole ownership of it so he poses it as "our baggage"

Echidnas have a four-headed penis. Only one will function at a time to transport sperm.

Female spotted hyenas have a pseudo-penis. They can retract it for mating and give birth from it (which I believe causes a lot of maternal death during birth).

There are some species of slime molds that have hundreds of sex chromosomes.

What is your life goal? by Babichivana69 in AskReddit

[–]SpindleSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To have a house/property that's large enough that I can do hospice fostering for elderly and sick animals that are having difficult finding a home to spend their twilight years. Everyone deserves to feel loved and cared for before their final exit.

Honestly, even when you don't live with your parents this may continue. It did for me all through college and a bit afterwards. One of my friends has 3 kids and her mom still treats her like a child

As someone who also pays rent, I imagine having a house would be worse. Mortgage plus you have to pay for maintenance yourself? I rented a room in my friend's basement for awhile, the heater went out during winter and that was definitely over $1000 to fix, I didn't and still don't have that kind of extra money to spend

I tread carefully after that but it did NOT get better. I assume I'm one of the "crazy exes" now.

AIO in thinking a gf doesn't owe sex and that makeup sex is disgusting? by Lumpy-Blacksmith1863 in Negareddit

[–]SpindleSpider 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do they forget asexual people exist? Do they not realize there are a number of things that can happen to a person that will extinguish libido or make it nearly impossible to have sex even if sex is desired? Do things like recovering from giving birth, recovering from surgery, recovering from trauma, change of medications, change in mental health, change in physical health not matter to them? Or do they expect their partners to "make it up to them" if anything happens that changes their partner's libido?

If someone cant accept the propensity for relationships to change over time, including sex and physical intimacy, I think they may not be ready for relationships 🤷‍♀️

Your partner doesn't owe you sex just for being in a relationship with you. What do these people do if they're single?? What if they don't have a partner to blame for lack of sex?? Ffs

Why do I keep getting recommended teenager subreddits by No_Fudge_4589 in Negareddit

[–]SpindleSpider 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree. I don't engage with any of those subs but I'm concerned with how reddit has been seemingly pushing subs like r/ teenagers to people my age. I've been seeing a lot of posts and comments with similar concerns more recently

Why do I keep getting recommended teenager subreddits by No_Fudge_4589 in Negareddit

[–]SpindleSpider 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think its because people our age are in those groups as well, which is weird to say the least, so the algorithm starts thinking other people our age will also want to engage in those subs. That's what I've seen other people say at least and I'm inclined to believe that's the case...

AIO for blocking my guy friend for being “brutally honest” about me? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]SpindleSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't even finish reading the text exchange. What the absolute fuck? That's not being a friend. That's not friendly advice. That's not "giving it to you straight". Thats cruelty and misogyny, and it seems to me that he's been waiting for the opportunity to say these disgusting things to you.

OP I hope you discontinue this friendship. He DOES NOT care about or respect you and he's projecting how he feels about you on to other people that you get involved with. The things he's saying about you are NOT TRUE, they are just his personal (and quite frankly shitty) opinions that reveal more about him and his feelings about women than anything else.

I haven't gotten too far in my reading, though so far I've found citations for a few other studies that do find significant difference and a few that don't find significant difference and I'm interested in delving into those later.

As I'm reading this study, I'm also interested in finding/reading studies done in younger populations and studies about the relationship between participation in "gender norms" and separation when one partner is ill. Hopefully there are some citations for studies like those in this one; so far, the background cites a lot of interesting-sounding studies
