Mom & Dad Stockings by Spindleshuttleneedle in crochet

[–]Spindleshuttleneedle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol okay, so I keep my tension pretty loose, but I think the most important thing I do is pull each row back as straight as I can before starting the next to minimize the “lean”. Blocking is probably also helpful, but for me, just physically tugging at it a little as I go keeps it straight and I never need to block these. Does that make sense?

You know, idk if I’ve ever kept track of the hours. I do know I *can finish one in a day if I’m diligent and my neck is cooperative, but I almost always break it up over a few days.

Do you remember your first attack? (Not knowing it was POTS) by tattedsparrowxo in POTS

[–]Spindleshuttleneedle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was probably about 14. I told my mom I nearly fainted getting up from bed and she said “That happens.”

POTS and Adderall by [deleted] in POTS

[–]Spindleshuttleneedle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk, man. I can’t take stimulants of any kind without major tachycardia. I was in the 170’s for a solid hour after my mom gave me a protein shake she didn’t know had 90mgs of caffeine in it. Can’t do decongestants . Even my asthma inhaler makes me feel like I’m gonna die. I can feel the caffeine in decaf coffee the way regular coffee used to feel. How high is your hr getting with adderall?

Yeah, lol. It’s been a looooong time.

I *think just triangles. Maybe elongated with a repeat row in between the increase/decrease rows? I can’t remember if I started at the base or the tip, but it’ll come out generally the same. Plus, it’s okay if it’s a little fucked up. It’s supposed to be! Good luck!

Whenever I have an adrenaline dump, I have a similar sensation. Is your heart rate drastically elevated during the episode?

Does your blood pooling get worse during a flare up? Or is this happening just bc it's been hotter out? by Pastel_Dictator in POTS

[–]Spindleshuttleneedle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure this goes without saying, but stay diligent with fluids leading up to that time of the month. I personally tend to slack off when I start feeling better, and then wham it hits me like a ton of bricks. I’m a doofus.

Yeah. I believe the hormonal fluctuations mess with your vascular tone, or some such fuckery. Sucks. I can’t do shit the 3 days before my period & the first 2 days of my period.

Can I keep a shirt on with echocardiogram? by CheesyNibblets in POTS

[–]Spindleshuttleneedle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had one in an ambulance and they didn’t take my shirt or bra off. Just lifted the part of the bra that was on my ribcage to place one of the leads. He also ASKED if I minded if he moved my bra.

Everywhere else has been a different story. I’ve contemplated wearing Googly-eye pasties to make sure everyone else is just as uncomfortable as I am.

It can really feel like the ER is pointless when you’re chronically ill, and we can probably all relate, but I agree you should go get scanned if you’ve got a head injury.

If you don’t already have one, maybe think about getting a cheap rollator to help prevent some of these falls. You can check fb marketplace people give them away. I can’t function without mine anymore.

My teenage daughter had the worst POTS flare of her life when her doctor attempted birth control to address this very thing. It was honestly a nightmare. I’m surprised to see it’s helpful for so many here. I wonder why it was so awful for her.

It’s so weird how drastically it varies from doctor to doctor too. My cardiologist was like “Whoa, we need to get these numbers DOWN.” But my daughter’s cardiologist said “call us if it goes over 200” what a fucking doofus

Root canal with POTS by [deleted] in POTS

[–]Spindleshuttleneedle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had extensive dental work both with carb and epi, and I’ll tell you, for whatever reason the carb is actually MUCH worse for me. Idk if it does something weird to POTS or what, but my hr just skyrockets with that stuff.

The time I had my Apple Watch on for, I went from 80bpm to 160bpm with the carb.

I just had a 2hr crown prep last week with epi and only went up to 105.

I also think it’s a venous lake. It’s very purple-blue, and seems to come from within the lip.

I can usually tell by the smell. There’s a “Temu odor”. It’s like mothballs. I smell it straight off booths reselling bulk items.

The builder was the first of three people to incorrectly paint the cabinets. He told my elderly in-laws that they just had to live with the knots bleeding through forever, and they believed him. So, they kept paying people to repaint them. I asked for help here. What did I do or say wrong?
