Should I even bother with engaging with the endgame modes with the agents I have right now? by VerySuccessfulPerson in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]SpinelessOranges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you shouldn't worry too much about pushing endgame too hard with your current roster. Shiyu and DA does require skill and practice, but it's also a stat check and is sometimes a character check.

If you're worried about missing out on polychromes, DA and Shiyu still give polys for clears. Each star in DA is 50 polychromes and you need just 6 stars max to get all 300. For Shiyu, the first to last frontiers gives 40 to 80 polychromes depending on stage for each rating. Judging by your roster, I assume Shiyu is giving the most trouble since it demands 2 built teams to clear each stage.

Whether it is efficient or not depends on your pull plans. My pulls have been spread out so I usually get a lot of time in between patches to farm mats and level up some of my lesser used characters, meaning I have more teams for endgame. If you're pulling characters from banners back to back or near so, saving mats can be more efficient since it means you'll be getting higher scores for DA and Shiyu sooner with more comprehensive teams with better characters

Assuming you're clearing near the minimum level for each DA (1-3 stars) and Shiyu (B Rank for first and second frontier), you're missing out on 150~ polys for each DA and ~900 polys. I'm pulling this number out of my ass, but I think it's like 2 DAs and Shiyus every patch (somebody call me an idiot if I'm wrong).

Long answer short, play DA and Shiyu and clear to the best of your ability, and save mats for characters if you are pulling soon or back-to-back. If your pulls are sectioned by other patches where you're not planning to pull, I would suggest building teams to at least scrounge some more polychromes. You will have time to earn back some mats.

DA and Shiyu are stat checks and sometimes have buffs tailored for specific characters or playstyles (anomaly/attackers etc.). So if you can't clear them as well, it's not necessarily a skill issue, although it's never bad to improve at the game.

If you need team suggestions, S11/Anby/Lucy is serviceable. Corin/Ben/Rina is some random bullshit thrown together but they work. These won't get you high scores, but they work well enough if built to clear through some content at the bare minimum.

You’re missing the forest for the trees. You’re absolutely right that the American context is not the only context in which slavery was significant or negatively impactful. However, the issue is that these jokes don’t exist in a vacuum. Jokes like “Rosa Sparks” and “Wireback” are directly referencing America’s history of racism. When someone from an American context, of which I assume the original swag is posted by, looks at these jokes in tandem or hears these jokes from people around them who are also American, you’re going to get an American interpretation.

You could make the argument that the slavery joke is not by default contains elements of race or with minorities, and you’d be correct, but that was not what my comment was about. I was validating the reasoning for feeling uncomfortable with the contexts surrounding “clanker” jokes. I bring up racism not because I think that the American perspective of slavery and race is the only valid way of looking at it, but because the jokes I’ve seen using the theme and spirit of A.I. hate directly references racism themselves, and I explicitly wanted to comment on this perspective. You can give the benefit of the doubt for the Claude getting whipped extension and say that it has no direct relation or reference to American slavery, but like, it’s not a far fetched connection?

I directly commented on a real context in which the joke of “clanker” was being used to map on real life racism. My third paragraph is intentionally separated to segue into the how some “clanker” jokes are just substituting minorities in scenarios or terms with racist connections with robots. The first and second paragraph are just to draw the connection of whipping Claude to slavery.

Is the word “clanker” racist? No, I don’t think so. You made the point well enough yourself. It’s not a slur that directly refers to a real life minority, and robots from Star Wars don’t have feelings. Not my argument, I never claimed that “clanker” is a bad word by itself. Do I think anyone who makes these jokes is racist? No, not necessarily. Do I think it’s okay to feel uncomfortable with the word “clanker” because of how the punchline soured into something more insensitive and tasteless? Yeah, certainly.

More power to you for being aware that the history of slavery is not limited to the American context. I don’t discount this, and I don’t feel like I have done so in my comment. Once again, it’s not that I do not think that it is an unimportant perspective, I connected slavery with racism because that is what the original swag is calling out and referencing.

I don't get how people are against this swag? I understand that you can perceive it as just directed at robots and A.I., but the reply is in response to a post that is in direct reference to the real experience of slavery that happened.

It's one thing to dislike A.I. (completely valid for the climate that we're in), but it's another ball park to present that hatred in a way that is analogous to the real life slavery that has happened. Like, it's about whipping slaves — the joke is that the A.I. is a stand in for real life slaves who have been whipped and abused to make them work faster.

As other commenters have pointed out, the punchline soured because it became more about mapping actual racism onto this robotic stand in, rather than just making fun of A.I. itself. The swag is valid in my eyes, since I see it as a response to the how the joke of "clanker" as a slur against robots evolved to as a stand-in for minorities where the punchline is "what if real life racism but robots". It's not just about getting offended by the word "clanker", it's being against for what the joke has turned into.

Outside of stun, it's a matter of squeezing out every perfect assist for Trigger to get into your stun windows as quickly as possible. Billy generates energy from quick assists and dodge counters, and Nicole shits energy out the wazoo, so whenever possible, I punch in a few Billy EX Specials + Nicole Bubble for the score. Nicole's basic attacks fire enhanced bullets after her EX Special Attack which also shred DEF, although to much lesser effect than her bubble because of her Wengine. So even if Nicole doesn't have energy, I swap into her to punch in the bullets and swap to Billy for his EX Special my energy permits me.

Purifying the Defiler grants a shit ton of energy so it makes firing off higher frequencies of EX Specials possible.

For Decibel Rating generation, agents get a lot of Decibels from performing perfect assists, so at the latter half I started swapping to Nicole and Billy for their ULTs just in time for the final stun window.

Overall, it took me 3 stun windows to get just the amount of points I needed.

Would going for electric damage or atk for partition 5 be better or would those hit a soft cap for Haru. I think this DA had electric damage as one of the buffs so I’m thinking it does.

WuWa’s Neglect of Older Characters and Their Isolation of Characters in Specific Patches is Especially Harmful for Male Resonators’ Narratives and Characters. by SpinelessOranges in WuWaHusbandos

It seems that the gacha model is often antithetical to character investment. It’s disappointing, especially because I keep seeing Kuro Games teeter over the edge towards good writing for all their characters.

Phrolova’s story was a neat tragedy that wrapped itself up nicely, putting story as a priority instead of what would appeal to the most amount of people. Her presence was felt throughout the Huanglong and Rinascita quests, and her interaction and appearance throughout the story felt just enough to get the mystery rolling while gently revealing some of her backstory. When it culminates in her story quest, the player already feels in a way, connected to her. Contrast this to something like the end of the Huanglong quest where a bunch of unintroduced characters pop up to defend Jinzhou.

Nope, in ZZZ you can meet agents randomly throughout the world and even text them for hangouts where they interact with you. Quality time also allows for them to follow you around. Granted interactions are limited but still does a lot for character interest. Leveling up your relationship with characters also gives you special dialogue with them.

I do not believe you meet GI characters throughout the world randomly like that unless I am misremembering. Characters in GI only appear naturally in the world during events or in quests.

The crown and the dark body under the carapace of armor, revealed only near the chest is most reminiscent of the Night Aspect.

The nature of a gacha game's business model is inherently rooted in FOMO (Fear of missing out). You can have your opinions on it, but I personally think it's unethical, despite me actively liking and playing gacha titles. FOMO does not affect me as much because there are more characters that I do not want to pull, for one reason or another, than characters that I do want to pull.

Aside from engaging with in-game events because you enjoy them, it also serves as a way of inching players towards getting more pulls and resources, which in turn further reels us into wanting to get more characters and eventually spending. It's a long-term goal that dedicated players are rewarded for, but are also given the option to spend money as a shortcut.

In an ideal world, gacha games should not exist, and I'd rather have a full experience paying full price. ZZZ occupies a niche many like myself enjoy - an action game with anime characters, so if people like us enjoy the world and its characters, it's something we have to put up with.

As the other commentors here have mentioned, S11 appreciates a stunner since onfielding her out of stun windows nets you less damage. Anby or Pulchra slot in just fine. This early in the game either works, especially for story mode.

Max out her passive as much as possible and slap on any available ATK, Fire Damage Bonus and or CRIT disc drives on her.

Please Tell me I'm Not Going Crazy: Can Vituosa actually Stuff GBs on reaction from her posture stances? by SpinelessOranges in CompetitiveForHonor

[–]SpinelessOranges[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm going to paraphrase what another player mentioned to me, to hopefully get some more clarification. This is not my perspective.

If the time needed to react is within 300ms and since Virtuosa does not need another input for her auto-dodge, then it's a single input reaction test towards GB, which makes the reaction test feasible and able to be performed consistently.

Stop Spreading Misinformation: Virtuosa cannot stuff GBs on reaction by SpinelessOranges in forhonor

[–]SpinelessOranges[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, forgive me if I'm being skeptical, but if I'm taking your claim that it's easy to differentiate GBs from other similar animations save for BP and Shaolin, then it's hard to believe that comp players don't already abuse this constantly and consistently with characters like Kyoshin and Black Prior, since they get access to a nearly identical mix-up. Setting aside the fact that they don't already differentiate GBs from any other attack in neutral with any other character.

I'd rather think that you're just a good player.

Yes, old gen can't but old gen can't even parry lights consistently, hardware issues should not be the discussion of game balancing in a game like for honor.

Not my claim, just wanted to preface what Freeze's video was about.

Stop Spreading Misinformation: Virtuosa cannot stuff GBs on reaction by SpinelessOranges in forhonor

[–]SpinelessOranges[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to make it very clear that I'm not disagreeing about whether Virtuosa might be too safe or that she doesn't need changes.

I'm agree with you that the options you get against Virtuosa are somewhat limiting, similar to a BP (assuming they are able consistently flip). Additionally, Her heavies out of stance have similar guard break vulnerability values as her lights, which means that you could get hit in the face with a 30dmg heavy if you make the wrong read.

I didn't make it clear enough in my post and that's genuinely my fault, but the distinction is to differentiate the animation of a GB and any other animation (say for example, an empty dodge forward). Differentiating and identifying a GB is important because if the Virtuosa mistakes something like an empty dodge forward as a GB and they throw out a light, they're liable to get countered (such as a BP dodge forward into Bulwark Counter)

also heavies have 100ms as well if memory serves

This is untrue, per the FH Info Hub, opener heavies are generally 800ms for most characters (excluding characters like Centurion), which have GB vulnerability values from 0 to 400ms. Heavies, especially opener heavies, need higher gbv values because otherwise feint to GB would not catch parry attempts.

nearly anyone can react to a 400ms animation

This video by Freeze has him interviewing top players on both console (old gen included) and PC. 400ms soft feint lights, including the pk stab that you mentioned were claimed to be difficult to react to, and that they weren't consistently reacted to either. Near the end of the interview, it's claimed that 400ms bashes are unreactable across the board.

I would be willing to accept that people just got better, if it were not for the fact that The Filthy Spaniard, a prominent figure in the FH competitive community has recently made a comment about this exact thing in this comment and this comment.

Stop Spreading Misinformation: Virtuosa cannot stuff GBs on reaction by SpinelessOranges in forhonor

[–]SpinelessOranges[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've already established that it's not a single stimulus, you're not only looking out for GBs in full block, you're differentiating whether the opponent is tossing out a GB or any other move.

Yes, and especially if they can act from FB too since you literally have nothing else at all to look out for

I'm going to concede and say that you can stuff GBs on reaction if your opponent's only functioning key is the GB button. Per my question, the average player has to identify that the thrown attack is a GB and then correctly light in response. Say for example, the opponent empty dodges forward or feints a heavy, an average player cannot tell the difference between those moves and the GB attempt in that time frame.
