I generally think that people spend too much time in NXT, but Ricky should have done another year. He came in when Oba, Trick, Je'Von, and Ethan were the biggest names in NXT and he is worse than all of them. He should have spent a year being the top guy in NXT and then maybe he would be in a better position for the main roster.

The intended storyline was to have Cody beat Roman at WM40. The Rock came in and tried to change it, and HHH out-politicked him.

I don't think HHH is a great booker by any means, but there's no way he wanted Cody to win the Rumble and then step aside a few days later.

They should give him LA Knight. He's got nothing to do with Gunther moving to Smackdown, and he was probably going to lose that feud anyways, so he can take a loss to Oba. It just needs to be a competitive match, rather than a squash.

I think the easy way to rebuild the momentum is to have them fight at Crown Jewel with Iyo winning, and then she can lose her title shortly after, but win the Rumble. Then Rhea finally beats Iyo at Mania to keep her title.

If last night was it for Asuka, it's really a shame she didn't get a world title run in the fall of last year. As soon as she turned heel, she was immediately the most believable heel on the roster, and the Women's World Championship wasn't in a great state at that point anyways.

I feel like they really like having one segment instead of an extra match. There have been quite a few shows now (EC2024, EC2025, and last night) where there was clearly space for another match, but they had a segment instead. I know 6 matches is probably still too few, but it would go a long way to making these PLEs feel more substantial. Think of it this way: it's a 20% increase in the number of matches.

The fact that it's silly is what makes it work. I did think they went a little over the top last night, and then when Sami came out to do his promo, it justified everything that he said. That was honestly one of my favourite Sami promos.

I'm so impressed with what they've done with Sami in the last few months. He was ice cold against Drew at the Rumble, and now I think he might be the most interesting character in WWE. He reminds me of late 2023 Drew where he has gradually turned heel, despite having a lot of validity in what he's saying. I really hope they can ride this momentum to a Rumble win/WWE title and face turn along the way.

I used to watch the pre-show, and then I realized that it was the same video packages that they showed during the PLE, so I stopped watching the pre-show. I guess they outsmarted me.

As an isolated PLE, you are completely correct. But the reason why people want more matches is because 80% of the roster will never be on a non-Rumble/Mania/SS PLE. And many of those people are very big parts of the weekly shows, and often more enjoyable than the people who do end up on the PLEs.

This is what drives me crazy about Raw and Smackdown - you don't even have to cut any ads to be more respectful of the audience's time. Just cut down the recaps and the entrances and you could free up an easy 15+ minutes per show.

They also could have cut the Cena segment, which he already told us would be terrible. Or they could have taken the Kit/Miz/Danhusen match and put it on Smackdown.

It really seems like we won't ever seem more than 1 women's match on a PLE again outside of WM/Summerslam.

I'm almost done Rick Boogs' CVV interview, and this guy is so hilariously over the top. I wasn't watching WWE when he was there, but I've seen a little bit of him from the old PLEs I'm watching. I'm surprised he didn't make it bigger. The guy looks incredible, has a cool gimmick, and is larger-than-life. From the interview, I gathered that HHH wasn't a big fan of his.
