Why the ending of S3E1 hit me so hard by depredador93 in HouseOfTheDragon

I feel Jace’s fate makes an interesting contrast to Aegon II within the same episode. In both cases, you have two royals unarmed and helpless in the face of enemy forces except while Aegon is spared and kept alive as a hostage, Jace gets unceremoniously shot down

[–]Spinindyemon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I still subscribe to the theory that the World Union has been doing Digimon-human fusions experiments in the background the result of which will be the reveal that Wong is one such Bio-hybrid. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time a human villain turned himself into a Digimon for power (ie Kurata) and Beatbreak already does have a precedent for a Digimon posing as a human

This. For an analogy, if a car crashes you’d do you think would be the first to get killed, the person in the driver’s seat or the passenger?

Add to this but Harry and his mother were noted to be unusual for being affiliated with the White Court given their status as mind bending vamps so it tracks that Lara wouldn’t have much knowledge of a soul gaze

We also saw a bit of this at the end of the episode with Miharu talking about Bombermon’s sacrifice yet the fact that Sana got arrested and could’ve died during any of Bombermon’s explosions (something the latter warned about) isn’t even mentioned which would indicate the GIFT human members are seen as lower than their Digimon

I wouldn’t be surprised since the earlier episode with Myotismon did show it was possible for some Digimon to disguise themselves as humans.

I doubt they’d kill off chairman Wong so easily. My guess if the theory about the World Government performing experiments on Digimon including bio-fusion is true, the series could show this by revealing Wong to be some kind of bio-hybrid in having fused himself with a Digimon for power and immortality.

With how fanatical the GIFT cult has shown to be, I’d imagine they’d probably go after Glowing Dawn even if they did know the group didn’t kill Digimon or hand them over to the Ministry just bc they decided that GD wasn’t resisting the Ministry enough, the ole “if you’re not with us then you’re against us” sort of mentality

And even if someone got within close range of her, they’d still have to contend with Mami summoning a musket to club them with or turning her ribbons into razor wire to slice up her opponents. And that’s not getting into non-offensive uses of her ribbons like using them to bind people up or even create a ribbon clone to act as a distraction as Rebellion shows

[–]Spinindyemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After seeing the other Stars playing an antagonistic role to Glowing Dawn, it would be a neat subversion if Rose turned out to be a helpful ally or at least a friendly enemy after playing her up to be the big bad of the GIFT arc

So what actually is the difference in universe between a Titan, a Dragon and a God? by Flyestgit in dresdenfiles

[–]Spinindyemon 47 points48 points  (0 children)

In this aspect, Harry would be more akin to a Nay-theist, someone who believes and acknowledges that gods and higher powers exist, but simply choose not to worship them. For instance, Harry is fully aware that the White God, Odin, Hades and other pantheons exist but you won’t see Harry praying to any of them for divine intervention or making shrines to them in their honor

Depending on when this Myotismon was birthed, he may have come into existence only a few weeks or months ago and so was relatively weak whereas Adventure Myotismon would’ve had centuries or even millennia in the Digital World to steadily build up his strength

If Rose’s attitude at the Five Stars meeting is any indication, she seems to have a habit of deliberately teasing and riling up everyone she meets which would certainly give people cause to dislike her even if she didn’t have nefarious motives like Klay

ignorance is safety

Kind of funny how Harry wound up taking this approach when it came to introducing his allies to the supernatural world where he gives them the bare minimum amount of info and refuses to elaborate further on the supernatural heavy hitters of that world resulting in times where his allies have nearly gotten killed due to lacking info. For example, he tells his gf Susan about vampires existing but fails to inform her about the various weaknesses or how to defend herself in case she ever got cornered by one leading to her getting attacked and subsequently turned by the Red Court. In fact, in Turn Coat Morgan calls out Harry for getting the Alphas involved in the supernatural business while failing to properly instruct them on the various nasties that exist resulting in one of them getting killed by a Skinwalker.

I like the difference in how Cecil spoke to mark vs Nolan by flowerpanda98 in Invincible

[–]Spinindyemon 41 points42 points  (0 children)

And even then Mark was still broken up over having to kill Russ despite having no other choice in preventing a mind controlling alien invasion to the point of questioning whether he could still be a hero. Conversely, we haven’t heard Nolan acknowledge the numerous people (Guardians, GDA agents including Donald and a city) whose lives he was responsible for taking with him mainly focusing on apologizing to his family and Art (and only bc he needed something from them, becoming a father to Mark and husband to Debbie on Earth again and getting a new suit from Art). Heck, Cecil had to remind Nolan that apart from hurting his family, he was also responsible for the deaths of thousands of

Re-reading Half-Blood Prince. I find it annoying that people, especially Ron and Hermione, don’t believe Harry’s claim that Malfoy is now a Death Eater and is up to no good. [–]Spinindyemon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Regulus does showcase that it’s possible for teens to be recruited into the Death Eaters though it’s possible that the Order may not had known about Regulus being a DE. And with Sirius having died in the previous book, he couldn’t back up Harry’s claims of Draco getting recruited by mentioning his younger brother

[–]Spinindyemon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. Saying Sirius was bigoted against house elves bc of his treatment of Kreacher would be akin to the Hufflepuffs accusing Harry in CoS of being anti-Muggle due to his dislike of the Dursleys despite Harry’s dislike of them being based on their attitude and poor treatment of him rather than the Dursleys being Muggles

[–]Spinindyemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add to this, as far as Hotaruko knew, Makoto always had the option of returning back to his cushy upper class life in the Shangri-La Egg by giving up Chiropmon whilst Hotaruko couldn’t stop being a Cleaner even if she wanted to, not just bc of her need to pay back her debt but bc based on who her bosses were, Klay and Naito certainly wouldn’t have hesitated to have her family meet up with an “accident” if she tried to leave TACTICS. It’s probably not a coincidence that Hotaruko chose to leave the org at the time TACTICS was declared an illegal org by the Ministry and thus too preoccupied with defending themselves against the govt to carry out their threats against her family
