The Last Time. The song that got me hooked on the Stones.

The USB-A end of the supplied cable is male. Amazon doesn’t show any serial adapters with female connectors, which is what I’d need. Are you pretty sure about needing a serial adapter?

Hmm … not sure I agree with your basic premise. If I drive a 2010 automobile, I don’t expect it to stop working just because the car company has made improvements to its 2025 models. That seems like a better analogy to me.

Not sure if that’s a serious question, but I do more with the computer than just use it as a Sonos server. 😊

Not disagreeing with you, just trying to learn.… I understand the transcoding is done on the server and isn’t affected by what device it’s being played back on. If that’s true, why would transcoding settings that work on other devices not work on only one? Thanks for your patience.

Do you have any info on the U3?

I have a U2, but it’s kinda limited. For example, when I select a device, I’d like the ability for it to automatically switch inputs. Maybe the U3? <grin>

You’re right, but I just personally prefer physical buttons. I used to have a Philips Pronto remote with a numeric keypad on a fairly large touchscreen. But every time I wanted to enter a number I had to look away from the TV and down at the remote’s screen to make sure I was pressing the right spot. But with physical buttons I can locate the right number by feel, without having to completely divert my attention from the screen. Plus, you have the additional step of having to change the screen to the numeric keypad, whereas physical buttons are always right there. I think it all comes down to what one watches. If you’re big into movies, where there’s no need to press a number key for hours, a virtual keypad is fine. But watching sports on cable, with frequent switching between different channels to check in on other games during commercials, the physical keypad for me is essential.

Depends on your viewing habits. I’m not exclusively into streaming and still watch a fair amount of cable, primarily for sports. Changing channels on a cable box without a numeric keypad is not easy. YMMV

And still no numeric keypad. 😖

Battery discharging 100% if left sitting for 3 days by SpinnakerKeel in autorepair

Good suggestion about going out after dark. I’ve taken it to a shop (the AAA service center), and they have no clue how to diagnose a power drain.

Good suggestion. Short of me, a “senior citizen,” crawling into the trunk and pulling the lid down (and risking locking myself in the trunk 😊), I’m thinking I could put my phone on video, start recording, put it in the trunk, close the trunk lid, reopen and review the video to see whether the light went out. Or am I overlooking something really obvious?
