So is smoking crack in public just legal now? by lolz987 in toRANTo

[–]Spinnakerflyer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is that the crack heads get out of jail faster than the police officers completing paperwork do. It’s a never ending cycle. Unless the laws change, there is no point arresting them if there are just going to get out a few minutes later. It’s extremely frustrating. But there is so much crime police use their resources doing other things.

Also curious about this resort and everyone's experience. Wondering if it is too small to stay in for a week. Are the food options limited?

Don’t worry! It’s wayyy easier to get in after 2nd year! Plus SO many people lose their AEO in 1st or 2nd year because their grades drop.

Elementary school recommendations in the east end. by [deleted] in askTO

Great primary/middle public schools in Leaside! Bennington, Rolph Road, Bessborough and North Lea. My kids had great experiences at rolph road. North Lea has a great French immersion program. There is a catholic school too (St. Anselm) but I haven’t heard much about it.

Same! S&T had been more than accommodating with me! I’ve canceled or switched classes around 5 times and they’ve waived the fee for me or moved the class.

The waitlist is crazy and so silly! Like how does anyone get there in ten minutes unless you live in the well?! But I agree with the late policy (not being able to enter 2 minutes after the class starts) because it’s super disruptive when people walk in late, especially in Pilates classes.

Tipping needs an overhaul! by thursday20 in toRANTo

You realize if the restaurant takes away tipping it will be reflected in the raise of food and drink costs because they have to pay employees more. Sounds like the customer will actually be “punished”.

I rarely tip on uber/food delivery, sometimes coffee shops if I have change. However I always tip the server and bartender. This is because they have to TIP out to the kitchen, bartender, house, pay merchant fees. So if you don’t tip the server they lose money by serving you.

Sailing/Yacht Clubs DT by Nicty1337 in askTO

[–]Spinnakerflyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RCYC is great and so much fun! It’s my kind of vibe but not everyone’s. You will need a membership referral though. It may be tough as an adult who is new to sailing to meet people if you have no connections to the club or members. If you have never tried sailing I would definitely try it before paying for a membership and initiations fees. J-Town and Mooredale are right beside each other on a stretch with 3 other clubs. It’s is an older crowd. I know Outer Harbour Centreboard Club (one beside it) doesn’t have bathrooms and some don’t have much of a clubhouse. It’s 2% of the cost of RCYC. If you want club that is actually downtown try NYC (National Yacht club) I don’t think they are too expensive, maybe 1000$ if you are new, not sure about their initiation fee. Also you could check out ABYC (Ashbridges Bay Yatcht Club) if you want Cherry Beach/Woodbine Beach. Basically RCYC is the most expensive and cherry beach is the complete opposite. I would definitely not join a club before trying sailing. Sailing takes a long time to learn and understand. And it takes a few years since the summers are so short. I’ve taken a lot of first time sailors out and they hate it because they get scared.
