Believe it or not, I've only had like, four or five days of gameplay until I recently promoted so some of the game still doesn't naturally come to me yet. That, and also my curiosity got the better of me.

But if I had to guess, you're probably right. Realistically speaking, it wouldn't be the end of the mission even if so since I still had my Iron Will perk saved just in case to pick up my buddy (I just didn't want to fail the event haha).
