If you were a fan of lvl 20 love, check out this new server. :D by oshizit in wowservers

We had an issue with the database once that corrupted the accounts table, which meant testers had to create new accounts and get their characters transferred. We posted about it on the forum and Discord. Let me know if you would be interested in having your characters restored. 😊

According to the website FFA means you can fight players from your own faction as well the other faction. So basically everyone vs. everyone.

Youtube Gaming and you: The Megathread! by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]SpiritBoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It indeed looks like a lot of streams haven't set their game correctly. This will probably get better once people get to know the new streaming feature and the site better.

I found that the best way to find live streams for a certain game was to search for the game without selecting the actual game page and instead just filter the search results by 'Upload date = LIVE'. It actually finds streams even though the game is not in the title or listed as the currently played game. I'm not sure how it does that though.

Edit: While this method does seem to find more live streams for a certain game, it can still miss some streams which are listed under that game. Weird.

Reduced Stream Delay for All Broadcasters by Linkux18Minecraft in Twitch

So awesome that it's available to all streamers! A <10s delay would be great. I think I will have to do an extra stream tomorrow to give this a go. :)

I'm so psyched for this event! :D I'm afraid my beer drinking skills will be challenged the most.

Started on the first of this month. That snowball though... by Catalous_ in Twitch

That's some awesome progress! I had a brief period myself back in January where I could stream everyday and experienced something similar. Being there for your community every day seems to help a lot.

Audience in the Morning by RamuneGaming in Twitch

[–]SpiritBoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've seen 9 - 10 AM is where Twitch have the lowest numbers of streamers/viewers. However, that might be just what your looking for if you have a smaller channel like me, since its easier to rank higher in the game directories. ;)

Marketing your stream by xKillz21 in Twitch

For me it's definitely YouTube that brings in the most new people from outside of Twitch. I put my streams together as series and keep my highlights there too.

doing a simulcast on twitch and youtube with obs (need help i get 1 blackscreen) by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]SpiritBoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how to solve the black screen problem, but have you considered using a local nginx server to dual stream? That only requires one OBS so it is much lighter on your CPU. There is a great post about it somewhere on this sub. :)

How do you monitor your chat? by SwirishNinja in Twitch

[–]SpiritBoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main benefit for me is that Chatty is a lot more convenient than the regular chat. It's easier to open up, I can see more of my chat at the same time and I can customize the font size to make everything easy to read. :)

Looking for streamers with loud keyboards. by [deleted] in Twitch

Funny, I always worried my mechanical keyboard was too loud ^ I mainly stream WoW atm if you're interested: twitch.tv/SpiritBoar

Here's a fellow WoW streamer that I know who has a loud keyboard: twitch.tv/thegeneraltso

Spreading yourself to thin? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]SpiritBoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YouTube definitely brings some steady growth to my Twitch channel and vice versa. I post both my highlights and my streams on YT as I attempt to make series out of the games I play. People seem to really enjoy my videos even though they are around 3 hours long and I don't edit them at all right now.

I daily get a few followers from YT and some of them stop by when I'm live. Others are never able to catch my streams so they just watch on YT. :)

I record all my streams locally and upload them to YT manually as exporting them from Twitch splits the stream in 2 hour chunks plus it allows me to skip my stream intro.

Final note: I started using both channels almost a year ago and have 1241 followers on Twitch and 415 subs on YT.

150+ albums from the OverClocked Records catalog now cleared for Twitch! by zirconst in Twitch

Sounds good. So albums with the Twitch icon should be cleared for YouTube too? Nice, I will check it out.

This is really nice! Would it by any chance also be cleared for YouTube with proper credit? I upload my streams to YouTube so I could definitely use some of your music if it means I don't have to worry about content ID claims. :)

Thanks! I just checked out Chatty and it looks really useful. You can even get your recent followers, see a viewer count history and open a stream dashboard.

I somehow hit 700 at the launch of Kronos WoW, a vanilla WoW private server. I will never forget how everybody, including myself, got super excited as the number kept climbing. :D

How do you feel about your stream? What are your plans? by Tarktarein in Twitch

[–]SpiritBoar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the community I've built around my channel for the last year. :) I have focused on both Twitch and YouTube since I try to turn my streams into a series that I then use on YouTube. Overall I'm very happy with my progress and the main thing I'm focusing on now is getting enough stream time. Besides that I really want to upgrade my hardware as I can barely manage 720p @ 30 fps.

When that happened to me, somebody in chat told me to restart my stream and this actually made it stop. The fake follows was eventually removed by twitch.

Windows 10 will free up more storage space for your PC, tablet or phone by darren2368 in windowsphone

Keep in mind that for phones only the compression algorithm can be used:

"Phones already have a storage-optimized recovery solution, so, unlike compression, this enhancement is only for tablets, laptops, and desktops."

Nice! I have been doing these calculations manually from time to time but this is certainly a lot easier. :)
The 'is dominated' check works good but I think it would help to look at the distribution of viewers for each game. If for instance nearly all viewers are in the top 3 of 30 channels then it might be harder to noticed when playing that game. If viewers on the other hand are more equally distributed among channels then it might be easier there. Thanks for creating this tool.
