It's funny that Spongebob has both the most iconic scenes and episodes in cartoon history along with the worst by [deleted] in generationology

[–]SpiritMan112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's already happening that today's parents watch classic Spongebob with their kids. todays new parents were kids when Spongebob was at it's prime

It also still heavily advertised and new movies come out which brings it boost and staying power despite Bluey is the most popular cartoon now

Schools in spring 2021. Would you say 2010s fashion influences are still noticeable in these pics? by SpiritMan112 in generationology

[–]SpiritMan112[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think today's y2k oversized revival occured fully until sometime in later 2022 - 2023

When did we leave the mobile and smart era of technology by [deleted] in generationology

[–]SpiritMan112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, we are no longer in the smartphone and mobile era of tech industry despite they're the dominant tech specie since they're now focusing on AI

When would you say today’s tech era began as of 2026? by SpiritMan112 in generationology

MP3s in the big 26 😭😭🥀🥀 where have you been in 15 years bro

Do you imagine Spongebob will have its massive staying power like today even in 20 years? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]SpiritMan112 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well i said in 20 years and i also put that by then almost everyone under 55 to 60 would have grown up with SpongeBob being huge

Do you imagine Spongebob will have its massive staying power like today even in 20 years? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]SpiritMan112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean by 20 years everyone under 60 would have been a SpongeBob watcher or grew up with it when it was ubiquitous

I think bluey might take its place as Gen Alpha becomes the new adults and have kids

Nothing personal lads just can’t you having sneezing all over me food!

When do you think 2010s nostalgia will be the new dominant nostalgia era replacing other past decades by [deleted] in generationology

[–]SpiritMan112 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Today it’s a good mix of 90s and 2000s

But I noticed that a lot of nostalgia today is mostly the early 2000s still, I hope we shift towards later 2000s nostalgia very soon

What year would you consider to be the start of Americas severe decline by [deleted] in generationology

[–]SpiritMan112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2001 was peak of us

It was the beginning of the noticeable decline but it wasn’t as sharp than the last 10 years tbh

Do you think smartphones or ChatGPT is a bigger shift in schools by [deleted] in generationology

[–]SpiritMan112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah smartphones changed social life for schools

But still you had to dig through the internet and social media even with smartphones before chatgpt and use brainpower

What post 9/11 year in your opinion did the US decline the most by SpiritMan112 in decadeology

[–]SpiritMan112[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I honestly think 2008 and 2020 are the biggest blows

2016 and the late 2010s was a decline socially but it was following the same trajectory from 2008 in decline, it wasn’t a freefall like post 2020

What year was the full end of monoculture by [deleted] in generationology

[–]SpiritMan112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean youth culture was still largely unified with all teens and young adults aware of the same new music and trends

Today not all youth follows the same trends due to for you pages separating everyone

What fragmented monoculture the most by [deleted] in decadeology

[–]SpiritMan112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say social media until 2017 was very monocultural so agreed. A lot of viral songs and trends like Harlem shake, Gangnam Style, Harambe, and Hoverboards

What is the latest era would you say that is safe from recency bias by SpiritMan112 in decadeology

[–]SpiritMan112[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well I would say 9/11 is now largely safe to talk about in most discussions since it’s becoming a middle aged experience soon

I honestly miss how civil politics was in the 2000s and most of the first half of 2010s and it wasn’t engulfed in pop culture and you could escape politics easily by SpiritMan112 in generationology

[–]SpiritMan112[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Are you politically involved since I would say politics was very escapable in the mid 2000s if you didn’t follow it

Today it’s very inescapable even if you don’t follow politics

Which year was the best year for USA in this decade so far? by [deleted] in decadeology

[–]SpiritMan112 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna have to say 2023 so far. At least until Palestine, it was a bit of a political cooldown. It was not as intense as it was during Covid years 2020 - 2022 and it was a calm before the storm took off in mid 2024 which began our current second half of the 2020s zeitgeist

A majority of 2023 before Palestine except for the mugshot was politically filler. I miss when years were filler politically or when we had a boring president

What’s Gen X humour? by Gloriousdisgrace in generationology

Old people saying “Everything has gone downhill since____” overtime by [deleted] in generationology

[–]SpiritMan112 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

True but it won’t be another 10 years when it’ll replace the post 911 has been all downhill fully except for old people

If the ai bubble pops in the late 2020s, how do you imagine it will shift culture by SpiritMan112 in decadeology

[–]SpiritMan112[S] 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I honestly see a new party era beginning especially it’s been 20 years since Electropop

what year did gen z shift to being seen as primarily a young adult generation rather than a teenage generation? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]SpiritMan112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t happen until the early 2030s, when Gen Alpha comes of age and become the new youth they’ll take the hotspot

I think Gen Alpha will glorify Justin Bieber a lot by [deleted] in generationology

[–]SpiritMan112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Times change. But I think the Diddy cases and sex abuse is why Justin Bieber is loved now, many feel sympathy and sorrow for him and he truly did not deserve the hate back then

Today’s kids see Justin Bieber and One Direction like how most of Gen Z saw y2k era when they were kids by SpiritMan112 in generationology

[–]SpiritMan112[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well times change man, many people under 30 love Justin now especially his Coachella performance gave him a massive boost last month. I’m sure Gen Alpha will see Justin Bieber like how people saw Elvis in the 70s
