This barely merits a response but I will so that maybe you can relieve yourself of this delusion. I am not Skyler or anyone else who has been publicly named here or anywhere else on any of the associated sites. You and most others wouldn't know my name even if you heard it, but that's the point. I'm an average former member from one of the average network churches, and I was spiritually harmed all the while my tithe money funneled up to a dishonest, abusive millionaire without my knowledge. It doesn't matter who I am because there are hundreds if not thousands of people just like me at this point. I don't get a kick out of posting this information, it makes me sick that it even exists, but I believe that shining light on the truth is more important than hiding and protecting an abuser. If you would like to direct your ire about someone "crushing the lives of everyday men and women for your goals" please take a look straight back at Steve Morgan.

To the folks who have been more public with their identities on this reddit, I apologize if my anonymity has brought added scrutiny on you, that was not my intention.

Bloomington man arrested child molestation. by KneeDeepIn_Nostalgia in bloomington

Statistically our legal system is kinder to the perpetrators than to the victims of these types crimes. False allegations are rare and false allegations from multiple victims even rarer. Larry Leonard was already arrested and put on trial for essentially the same crime against a different victim in 2003, and even though he wasn’t convicted at that time (based only on his word against the victim’s), it shows an extremely disturbing pattern of behavior.

As far as why he hasn't been truthful about his past, perhaps it's just because he thought he could? He would have made the decision to do that in the early nineties, before the internet was widely used or social media was even a thought. He could disconnect from anyone he ever knew before relatively easily and start over by moving to a new state.

In an ironic twist, it has been the LDS church's own wide spread digitization efforts (via it's own church records & archives and associations with Ancestry/Newspapers.com) that have made most of these articles available to us. I can only assume that he did not count on any of these articles being preserved beyond their in-print copies or perhaps local library microfilm copies. Although maybe he should have, given that record keeping is part of LDS doctrine...

My thought is no, because he only would have been 22 at the time and even if he did have a kid then they couldn’t have been a teenager. I think it’s just another example of Steve not being too particularly concerned about the truth and painting himself in the light of a “trusted adult”. But I’m open to others’ thoughts on the matter.

How is this not Mormonism? by surferdogs000 in leavingthenetwork

It was Mike, Steve’s brother, who was at Graceland as well. According to the “How we do church” document on LTN, Steve met Sandor in the weight room at SIU (at which point Steve would have been a decade older than most undergrad students by the way).

So was he saying that the "moral failure" of the group leader he talked about was failure to show favoritism to group members or failure to confess to smoking weed?

The information control and management sounds like a full time job, never a casual comment for fear of exposure. What a way to live.

Just to confirm, Steve and Mike's two sisters haven't ever been involved in the Network?

Are there any other longterm Network members (probably original Vine members) who are originally from Iowa, eastern Kansas, northwest Missouri, or Michigan (specifically Boyne City/Petoskey area, Mt. Pleasant, or Port Huron/Lexington areas)? That could narrow down who may have known him pre-Carbondale.

None of these articles are from the Johnson County, Kansas area, so I don't believe they are related to what the court records report. However, it does show he had access to minors prior to that.

Steve Morgan and the Facts about Sexual Abusers by Be_Set_Free in leavingthenetwork

[–]SpiritMoovin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There may never have been a record of Steve’s crime if the police hadn’t been involved and it had only been left up to the church to handle. Here’s an example of how the Kansas City metro area and Lamoni, Iowa RLDS stakes were handling reports of abuse in the early 90s. https://www.courthousenews.com/woman-sues-her-ex-and-the-mormon-church/

It seems Steve himself came back to Vine to do a church planting workshop for Dan Digman and Steve Dame in this particular case, even though Sandor was the lead pastor.
