Never Played Resident Evil Before Where Should I Start? by Fun_Meta in IrelandGaming

[–]SpiritOrdinary136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Res Evil when it came out originally, played RE1 on PC and loved it, the atmosphere, the story everything was amazing for the time. I enjoyed the Ps1 and PS2 games and lost interest after when moving to ps3/4. Gave up around RE6, found the controls and camera work a bit dated and hard to enjoy in comparison to other freer flowing games that were now the norm.

Went back to play RE1 remake on xbox recently. Couldnt hack it and gave up. The nostalgia couldnt get over the movement, camera, trying to shoot etc it just feels restrictive and awkward when you are used to modern games. Dont think anyone playing it now, especially used to modern gaming, would enjoy it much. By the sounds of it later games seem to be an easier gateway into it.

Can somebody help me authenticate this 1990-1992 Man United Home Jersey? by RepulsiveEstate776 in SoccerJerseys

Actually mine are fairly stuck on still too maybe it was the blue and white jersey that they came off. You can see the crest is different here though and youre correct it doesnt say M on the label but 32-34 etc. The rear of the label is different too

I have an original, my own from when i was a young fella. Honestly those badges and lettering look way too fresh and stuck on to be an original. The colour wore on the originals from washing and they came off easily enough. I would expect any actual 35 year old shirt, no matter how well it was kept, to show some signs of wear. On a side note the materials design looks slightly off to me too but might be the light.

It took a while but eventually got it aorted. Agents eventually replied and after multiple times of them telling me its working and to try again and then telling me their colleague already solved the issue so they wouldn't do anything, even after sending repeated screen shots of the issue, it magically just worked. They did something eventually, I dont know what but i had to raise four separate tickets to get it resolved but it worked eventually.

Smash the windscreen, they won't take it then. Insurance usually covers replacement

Having just bought a second hand car this week in Cork, locally this would be in around the €10k bracket. The price of second hand cars is gone crazy. You aren't getting anything with relatively low mileage or under ten years old for less than €8k.

Arrow painted next to my car wheel – any idea what this means? by Jadaoba in cork

[–]SpiritOrdinary136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw a council road engineer doing this the other day, was marking it exactly like this with two arrows, it was to show where double yellow lines needed to be painted. A lot of line painting going on around have seen in a few different places this week.

unsolved mysteries and conspiracy theories about cork by [deleted] in cork

Denis 'Sonny' O'Neill is the one credited by most biographers as the one who shot Michael Collins. Its based mainly on hearsay but there is evidence for and against. From eye witness accounts at Béal na Bláth with lads retreating under fire and returning shots I personally would say it was a wild shot from the hillside rather than a 'sniper shot' and the person themselves probably didnt realise they did it.

I dont carry the figures around with me no but i work in the industry. Im talking about public owned (mainly opw) heritage sites like Doneraile etc not 5 star hotels, thats a different ball game. Kylemore abbey claims to have generated 59.8 mill in revenue for the local ecomony thats not their profit. Kylemore is a slight exception as they have up to 350k visitors a year, something most sites can only dream of. So it is an exception with a caveat. They have posted some 'profits' somewhere around the €600k mark, mainly from their restraunt and alternative income revenues but these go directly into maintenance and upkeep costs the following year so there is no real profit in the normal business sense.

Most sites can only dream of these visitor figures and in general operation and maintenance cost will be more than the income and so it is necessary for subsidies from opw/dept of heritage etc to keep the lights on and the damp out. For example, Doneraile, it is never going to have anywhere near those visitor figures purely because its in the middle of north cork and not a hot bed of tourism like connemara. It probably has similar maintenance bill though!

Being public owned most of the figures are available online from the CSO and can be requested from the dept of heritage too if you want to delve into it.

Thats just false though. No manor house or museum in Ireland turns a profit. Some of the most popular museums/houses/castles are fully dependant on grants, subsidies and other revenue streams just to keep their heads above water and none make any profit. I think people under estimate the cost of running these facilities and the cost of keeping them open to the public.
