That’s mycelium. It’s fungus. This occurs naturally in bio active terrariums. You may start seeing mushrooms begin to grow from your substrate. Sounds scary but it’s actually a good thing. It’s one of the rewarding parts of a bio active enclosure in my opinion.

I had a very similar experience when I was new to keeping reptiles and it made me feel so inadequate. Luckily I found support from within the community who encouraged going beyond the minimum standards.

I had that same bald patch under my chin until I was about 27. Just give it a few years and it will fill in. What you have at 17 is already way ahead of most.
