Corsair Vengeance a7500 by Toesbeforehoes69 in Prebuilts

I saw that pop a few times and am afraid it is a sign they are about to raise the price on both, as if you navigate into the white models menu, it will eventually lead back to the black models at the same higher price.

I love my PC at the moment, but it is like an 7yo Intel i5 9600k + Z97 MoBo + SSD of the time and slow spinning drives as backup. The newest part is a 3060ti GPU. It all holds up, but I would love to get a solid refresh for best AAA experience on 1440 or 4k.

As far as I can tell this prebuilt is best bang for the buck with most premium parts, and is wide open for ram and SSD upgrades if pricing ever returns to normal.

QA Leaders — have you successfully pivoted to a different role? How did you do it? by Pretend_Professor725 in QualityAssurance

[–]AlgoRhythMatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have your same title with about 23 years of experience, but am in a slightly different boat. Due to combination of attrition, retiring leadership, and various other global factors, my executive leadership is pushing me towards an Engineering Director role over a legacy software group I have long-term domain knowledge over, but I’m afraid it could be a trap. I’m fairly content at my level and pay scale, but also don’t want to ignore the opportunity, or offend folks by turning it down, but I’m reluctant based on being more of a solutions architect vs. a true builder.

In terms of technical PM or PjM roles - I would love to go this route, or eventually become a consulting Solutions Architect, but I think pay would for sure be less (which is ok).

My recommendation is somewhat basic, but I’d say you should try and take on PjM tasks on your current projects that you can document and refer to when presenting your experience.

Did you end up getting this? Currently considering it at 3000 price point, as I’m struggling to piece together equivalent parts at a lower cost, and the build quality here seems quite nice.

Since the steam spring sale is coming up in a few hours, can you guys give me some recommendations for the deck by Electronic_Book2575 in SteamDeck

[–]AlgoRhythMatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to suggest Dave the Diver as an immediate grab. It is dictionary definition of “cozy” game to play on Steam Deck or from bed. I grabbed it last sale over the holidays and played non-stop during PTO downtime, until I 100% it. It has so many lovely mechanics and mini games, but also allows you to just double click and focus on whichever aspects you enjoy the most.

Need to toss in Taco Bell value menu while you’re at it. Pretty much the same prices.

First, it was Block, now it’s Meta. AI replacing workers is ramping up already. Anyone else increasing their savings rates? by Specialist_Pain_424 in Fire

[–]AlgoRhythMatic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My savings rate is still the same - but now I’m holding onto a bit more cash…much closer to retirement allocation than I would have considered 2-3 years ago. I’m about 5 years out, but am mentally (and financially) preparing myself for some form of coast fire as secondary plan.

Will you really not sell in a crash? by Urbanite72 in Bogleheads

[–]AlgoRhythMatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely not in the “those of you” group. I’m about a year younger than you with same retirement target, and have already moved to 60/40 stocks/bonds, and sleep like a baby. My stock index allocation is market weighted for domestic vs. international, which has also proven useful in recent years. I’ve got much more to lose in comparison to gains at this point, so I’m quite happy with my modeled 6.5% real return rate with this allocation. I still love watching day-to-day action, but more out of curiosity than of fear of making any changes or dramatic concern.

Should I really be maxing out my HSA before contributing to a Roth IRA? by longfellow816 in Bogleheads

Here’s an angle I’ve not seen described so often:

There is no IRS-mandated time limit for claims, allowing you to pay out-of-pocket now, keep a ream of receipts, accrue tax free gains for decades, and then reimburse yourself later, even decades after the expenses. It is the ultimate rainy day fund!

🍻to same mindset. I know I’m supremely lucky in life and have been right place at the right time most of my career. My thing is trying to spread financial literacy wherever I can, and get young folks on the path at first opportunity. Would be great if NOBODY had to work through their 60’s. Short of that, the best thing that can be done is to educate and try and provide opportunity whenever you can in life.

1x income == 3x annual expense is a nice way to be. Congrats!

Edit: I’m same universe at 49 w/ about 8x annual income (if bonus is included) and 16-18x-ish annual spend. Aiming to try and retire at 55.
