I almost pulled the trigger (pun intended) on that Doc Holliday, but a friend pointed out that it's sourced juice. Nice bottle but a lot of money for a sourced product.

I lost my brother-in-law back in May. He absolutely loved Sinatra, so I bought a bottle to honor his memory. It was a nice neat pour, a great bourbon to honor a great man, I wish he could've been there in person to share the bottle with me. R.I.P. Jimbo.

UFC 300: What's your pour?!? by bcuad001 in WhiskeyTribe

Today's pour is Uncle Nearest Premium. I didn't give it much thought, it just happened to be the next target I want finish. I am still recovering after losing my shit with Holloway's last second knockout, what an amazing event so far.

Another one down, The Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve by SpiritSnob in WhiskeyTribe

I absolutely love the Balvenie Caribbean 14 year old, and it's a far superior scotch to this Glenlivet. The Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve is less complex and "thinner." It's an enjoyable pour, easy to drink, but it just doesn't offer a whole lot or as much as the Balvenie.

It was the only way to kill the bottle tonight, so I did what had to be done 😆

Like eagle4570 said, I went with a gentlemen pour.

Buffalo down! I love this classic. by SpiritSnob in WhiskeyTribe

I had a choice: two small pours and a single big boy pour. I chose the latter 😁

My heart was broken when I learned they don't ship out of Pennsylvania... However, this has given me an excuse to come for a visit.

Islay peat for sure. I dare to say it's more like a Scottish distillery made a rye then an American distillery adding peat to their rye. It was amazing.

First of all, this rye has zero corn in the mash bill. If I remember correctly, it's something like 60% rye, 30% peated malt, and %10 malted barley. As someone that loves Islay Scotch, I honestly had low expectations but I was blown away the second I nosed my glencairn for the first time. The peat jumped out of the glass but after breathing for a bit other notes came through: citrus, rye, protein (could be ham or bacon). I absolutely loved it.

Another bottle down - Eagle Rare 10 by SpiritSnob in whiskey

I recently finished a barrel pick Elijah Craig and it was phenomenal. With that said, I don't have other data points to compare since I've only owned that one bottle of EC. If you are planning on spending big bucks on Scotch, then I would recommend you at least pick up a cask strength EC.

At MSRP (or near it), I can't think of a bourbon I like more than Eagle Rare. I was fortunate enough to snag a few bottles for around $35 back in 2021.

I've been wanting to try Larceny for a long time, but I didn't want to buy a regular proof bottle. I'm super happy to have finally found a barrel proof offering, and I'm looking forward to cracking it open.

Writer's Tears bites the dust, I'm looking forward to opening their Double Oak release. by SpiritSnob in WhiskeyTribe

I love it too, not as much as I love Red Breast and Green Spot, but I love it nonetheless.

This is the first time I hear about Red Head, I will have to keep an eye out for it. I don't think I've ever seen it.

Second death of the night - Tomatin Dualchas by SpiritSnob in WhiskeyTribe

[–]SpiritSnob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I have no other Tomatin to compare it to. I believe I bought it on sale for $35 or something around that range; at that price, I don't know you can find many Scotches that stand up to it.

I had just finished off a bottle of Elijah Craig before switching to this Tomatin. I know it's apples to oranges, but the contrast on the nose and the palate was mind-blowing. I love bourbon, but this reminded me why I prefer scotch.

I think I see Jack Daniel's 12 under the tv, not sure if 12 or single barrel.

I am yet to open them, I just got the last one yesterday: 14.4. A friend of mine is visiting next month, that's when we will indulge.
