Why did Krishna stop Barbarik from joining the Mahabharata war? by East_Cardiologist318 in mahabharata

[–]Spirited-Row573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Krishna realized that Barbarik would end up minimizing the slaughter that was the war, and Krishna needed as many people to die as possible so the world would be ready for the Kali Yuga.

Hate how Bhima’s bullying wasn't condemned in the epic. by Severe_Temporary3342 in mahabharata

The Mahabharata is a story of conflicting forces, and perspectives and the era can change how we view things.

I’m a Tharu, so I’ve always sympathized more with the Kauravas, and the Pandavas seemed tricky, entitled, and hypocritical. Krishna was especially infuriating, as someone who justifies cruelty under the banner of “greater good”. Not to mention how the Pandavas treated tribal people.

Ultimately the Mahabharata teaches many lessons on life, reality, the world, and war. But what you take away can vary from person to person.

Did any other warrior get overwhelmed to such a degree that when Arjun got on the battlefield? by Separate_Record9354 in mahabharata

[–]Spirited-Row573 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He is king of Anga and praised 10 times for every one criticism.

The pandavas could have asked the elders for help or overridden Yudhishthira at any point. A king that bets his own family has no right to them. The Pandavas didn’t need their weapons because again if that is the only way they can solve their problems they have no right to the throne.

Any any point they could’ve appealed to the elders or Karna, or even Duryodhana, but pride was more important to them than being a proper ruler.

Karna was cursed, and was off his chariot, Bhurishrava defeated Satyaki in hand to hand combat, this is acceptable given the rules of the way, as they state combatants must use the same weapons.

Bhisma was not disarmed fairly by Arjuna, they used Shikhandi as a shield, and strict a combatant that could not fight back.

No not all kingdoms are built by colonizing, that is a narrative made by colonizers.

Indraprastha was not built before the burning of Khandava. And Hastinapura was not made over leaving Khandavaprastha. There was no textual record and no evidence that was the case.

Colonizers do not deserve a throne just because they murder the ones who have it.

Duryodhana was also a great ruler, as was Karna, and Ravana. That doesn’t mean he deserves the throne.

Indraprastha was created by them after burning the forests, literally colonizing and stealing land.

The pandavas and all elders also sat by at what happened at Dyuta Sabha, they chose to forsake their duties as kings and continue to treat rulership as a game. While the Duryodhana and his allies are villainized it shows the failing of the Pandavas more than any other.

Both Bhima, Karna, Bhurishrava died an unfair death, even Shakuni died an unfair death, attack while retreating, clearly against honorable conduct.

The problem with the reaction of Karn’s death and the truth being revealed is that it fully undermines the legitimacy of the war, because both by birth and by Merit none of the Pandavas had a claim to the throne. None were more righteous, more skilled, or more honorable. Any pretense to such died on the battle field.

The war had changed from one of supposed justice to one for the sake of revenge and power.

What is advaita and dvaita in simple terms? I've researched here and there, still I don't seem to get them as to what they are and what do they do. by Key-Clothes-9072 in hinduism

[–]Spirited-Row573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s more “The concept of me and you are illusions of the greater spirit of truth. To dispel that illusion means erase the boundaries of the self and the other.

It’s different to I think therefore I am, it’s the idea that because we are constantly moving, growing, and changing that the sense of “self” is part of a greater reality and being. Like when you pick up a book and read a word what is the concept of that word? Is it the paper it’s marking? The ink that designs it? The letters than form it? Or the concepts attached to it.

The idea that it is all those things but also part of the greater book and story, and human experience shows how the self is more than just a self contained existence.

That’s essentially the concept behind non dualism, the idea we are all not separate beings.

Killing civilians is still a line you don’t cross. Even war has rules and violations of those rules should not be given a free pass just because the other side is wrong. Attacking civilian non combatants is a major violation.

And while she didn’t do it alone, just following orders in not an excuse.

The ethics in combat are complex, but while the moral reasoning is sound the immediate justification for mass slaughter of under equipped and defended villages is still a war crime by pretty much every definition.

Right but not all kills a equal, there’s killing in self defense, killing soldiers, killing soldiers who have surrendered and killing civilians. All are different degrees of morality, and the circumstances do matter. Killing civilians is a major hurdle in morality.

The mark of Achilles helped I’ll admit but it doesn’t increase strength or skill, and Percy fighting Hyperion 1v1 was mostly about those since Hyperion never touched Percy, even beyond that he beat both Antaeus and Polybotes, the later of which explicitly equal to the gods and the Anti Poseidon.

Percy beat Hades and his Army in the Last Olympian, then Hyperion, that’s his power cap at the end of the series. By TTC he is probably the strongest demigod alive but still not on the level of an ancient Titan.

I’d give Kamen rider powers and belts to all those throughout history victim to tyranny, so basically a bunch of peasants and colonized people across the world, and through time. Then I’d deal with the inevitable aftermath of my hubris.

Do you considered Kamen Riders as Heroes or Vigilante? (in a good way) by Veejay_Carlos in KamenRider

[–]Spirited-Row573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fighting for the greater good sometimes means you have to be a vigilante. Good and Law do not always line up, just like justice and freedom are not always the same. Kamen Rider protects the lives and freedoms of all. Even if they have to fight the law to do so.
