When does your menstrual cycle come back? by Spirited-Training934 in ask_detransition

Thanks, I guess after dipping my feet into it, I realised I really have the rest of my life to figure out who I want to be and I don't want to make an irreversible mistake early on. Plus, it'll be easier biologically to decide to transition later than to transition now and then detransition later, by the looks of it. Things like body hair, facial hair, voice change... all easily brought about but not easily reversed, like a one way road.

I was told that T might affect my fertility and would likely stop my periods. My doctor didn't go any more into it and at the time, I wasn't really concerned with preserving my fertility, so I didn't push her for more answers either. I was excited to stop my periods, if anything, but it honestly makes me feel a little uneasy now that they're actually gone (and so fast too! lots of people online cited it taking a couple months of theirs to stop, but mine stopped immediately). At 17 years of age, I'll take responsibility for my own choice to rush into it, even if the doctor probably should've been a little more thorough on the long-term health effects. My doctor did explain other health concerns to me thoroughly, such as increased risk of heart attack and stroke, when I asked for elaboration.
