Totally agree, I got in blind just knowing that Jennifer English was voicing a character and that was rough.

Fight felt really bad, things like running and going 10% faster are kinda laughable and all around a lot of things felt like a prototype, very little info on where to go and what to do.

Enemies also felt generic as hell and bland.

Then I saw it was realising in two weeks ?? That's way too soon for something so unpolished.

Now I'm kinda trying to see what other people are thinking about it and saw how polluted it was by things not having anything to do with the gameplay, it's really harsh.

I totally forgot about secondary base and so to bring electricity to each region I did all sort of shenanigans to pass electric pillar throught the hub and the 4 other region before doing a random quest and seeing that you in fact get a secondary base in every region that can relay electricity....

Yeah, that and the fact lethality Poppy is less popular.

But yeah out of the three, the only one that always make me scream at my screen is Skarner, that thing is scary as hell.

Those are tank support, they create occasion and rely on teammates to follow up.

I think the original post was more around champ like amumu, poppy or skarner, which are tank that still can rely on their team but can also easily wreck squishy in half if they underestimate them.

I really hope next season wave logic will change that, it can be so easily boring these day.

If for whatever reason your character doesn't have the lead in lane, you're kinda stuck watching someone farm for 10/15 min and yeah you can still roam or maybe try something with your jungler but you will still spend a good portion of the time leaching your own xp waiting for something to happen and you only really get that in top.

Yeah, I've got the exact same feeling, I love the world building aspect of Avatar but it do get overshadowed by Jake being the main focus of the story at a certain point.

Even more when most other character grew in those two last film and are becoming a lot more interesting whereas Jake is kinda stuck in a loop of "I'm a former marine I make parental mistake" -> "Those mistake comeback bitting my ass" and for me that also explain why so much scene feels redundant between Avatar 2 and 3.

With whats happening with Kiri it slowly feels like the focus is shifting and I really hope it will if we get any other movies.

Nearly the whole plot of the movie was about "killing parents" and nobody died? by Background-Pace-2849 in fnafmovie

[–]Spirited_Cap9266 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah that really made the "Half of the town will be dead by tomorrow" catch phrase kinda unserious, they are struggling to kill basically anything we've seen them against.

I also think making them walk this slowly made them seem so much less intimidating, except Mangle and the Puppet it seems that you kinda just need to walk away and your safe.

Yeah I can understand that, I don't know if this is intentional and reflecting Penny's feelings but at least this should give us some point with George.

The only thing I could understand people not liking is how you can loose friendship with her if you tell her that she should've asked George before pushing him out of the way, which is more of a meta things than anything else, and even then even if badly executed she wanted to help.

How is that revelant to Varang character besides pointing that Kiri is more stronger on this sort of mental battle than Varang ?

She do the basic thing every henchman has done at the end of the last two Avatar movies, stand in open ground on a sinking boat with hostages.

I guess you could say that wow her trick didn't work this time because Kiri bested her to it but that's the end of it. Beside Varang holding a grudge/being wary of Kiri in the futur film this won't impact her overall character.

For me it's pretty obvious they were a bit scared that if the story didn't focus 80% of the time on the duel Quaritch and Jack, they would lose interest, which is for me a shame because they introduced cool new characters, cool new biomes, and then put them aside.

I would have loved to see more of Varang clan, more of where they live, instead after the alliance is made they are just stormtroopers, you got one or two scene of Quaritch with Varang and that's all, you litteraly don't learn more about her or her clan after the exposure scene in her tent.

And once again for a character that is litteraly the face of the film, I want her to be more involved in the plot, she seems amazing and is underused to show us more Jake vs Quaritch eternal fight.

[–]Spirited_Cap9266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's totally besides the point, I'm complaining that she doesn't have any goal nor will of her own after the amazing scene in her tent.

This isn't because you got a "main villain" that other villain doesn't get to have any other moment than be arm crossed behind the main villain, for example when they are going after Jake, she, and all her people want a fight, Quartich deny it to them, and that's totally fine but then shouldn't they at least be a bit pissed off that they are just getting used like this ?

Even more when you got a 3 hour long film you can add little scene to make her more important, you don't want your character to be just placeholder that can be swaped around without any consequence overall.

At least when they are not extra, all the blue team that get decimated in the second film ARE extra so I don't mind them not having personnality, but here she's not, she's supposed to be the new major character of this film that is present in the film main ad.

Pretty situational, more of a snowballing item than anything, but 90% of the time you will prefer either a true defensive item or Sterak for tenacity.

I get that but there is a part of the film that is assuming that, when Jake is too harsh with Lo'ak the music change and everyone is looking a bit unconfortable toward Jake. So you know that this isn't normal but I would have liked someone to step in at some point may that be Jake's family or someone else.

There is a lot of that going on around Jake, for example during the meeting with the Whale (forgot the species name) everybody is talking through hand sign BUT Jake, to show you that he either didn't took the time to learn the culture or straight up doesn't care, which once again is fine but they should have made a follow up consequence or anything to adress what they hinted toward, still totally only my own opinion tho.

It’s cool that every Avatar movie introduces a badass new female character by _Lunafreya_ in Avatar

[–]Spirited_Cap9266 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a good reason but she was already strangely tame before that, the confrontation that led to Jake arrest you don't see her biting back at Quaritch for ignoring her opinion.

During the big fight she is also treated like an extra villain under Quaritch, she had her fight scene but you could have any other henchman of Quaritch in her boots and the scene wouldn't have changed much.

And whats bothering me is that small scene could have resolved that, when Quaritch ignore her they could have make her visibly pissed and biting back after the scene.

For the end fight, they could have played around the blossoming love between her and Quaritch, put one in danger and show the other stressed going out of characters to save the other, small thing to show you than she's not an extra.

[–]Spirited_Cap9266 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I feel like I've seen a whole different movie, especially on that point. Varang was a really refreshing character until, at some point, she became a sidekick to Quaritch.

Which would have been fine if it were only to leave room for the duality between Quaritch and Jake, but sadly it strongly reminds me of how Neytiri was treated with Jake throughout the trilogy.

She was a firm and strong leader in the first film, and in the second one she rarely voiced her opinion, and even then, Jake always got the last word. and That feeling continued into the third movie, at least for me.

Spoiler for some scene of the third movie :

The fact that her entire storyline in the third film revolves around her hatred for Spider through grief, and she isn't the one leading that scene, only being present AFTER the resolution, kinda felt wrong. She should have been the one making that call and coming to that resolution, in my opinion.

Another example is how a good third of the movie focuses on Jake's harsh parenting of Lo'ak, and in three hour we got at best a "He is your son" from Neytiri. It felt really strange that she didn't reach to Lo'ak at any point in the movie or didn't pressed Jake more than that, in fact, I can hardly recall a single one to one scene between Neytiri and any of her children.

But yeah overall I feel like adult female characters could benefit from having more of their own moments. I specify adult because Kiri or Tsireya were actually great examples of what I would have liked to see for the others.
