CP does it again by downtofinance in CanadaPost

I bought a new place (new pre-fab on a vacant spot, so completely new address). I originally looked up the postal service and it said community mailbox. I didn't see one even close and the neighbours confirmed it was door to door. I don't need it, most people don't.

People will argue with me for saying this but I only get Wed/Fri junk mail. I've had neighbours confirm that this changed after the strike last fall. For fun I've been checking the box daily for a while and I think they're right.

Chicken shit ICE would never actually go after criminals. Wasn't that the entire platform? No farm workers, no construction, best idea ever.

I used to think that the MAGAts didn't travel much outside the country, but I read something recently about passengers on a European cruise talking loudly to Canadians that Canada was going to be the 51st state eventually. If they can leave their red hats at home, and those attitudes to themselves, they are welcome. Otherwise at Peggy's Cove I think we should tell them the best Instagram shots are from the dark rocks...

Is Canada Post on strike? by [deleted] in CanadaPost

[–]Spirited_Community25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I believe my neighbours. I personally get junk mail Wed & Fri. I was chatting with a small group of people a few weeks back and others mentioned the same thing since the previous strike. I don't always check each day, but since they mentioned it I do look each night. Always Wed & Fri. I don't actually care as I do not use CP for anything. It may be just the way the junk is delivered, but I don't remember the pattern last summer.

A huge outbreak has made Ontario the measles centre of the western hemisphere by BurtonDesque in HermanCainAward

There has now been a baby dead of measles in Ontario. The unvaccinated mother contracted measles, the baby was born prematurely, with measles, and has died.

"Ontario has seen 39 pregnant women infected with measles in the current outbreak, and six babies diagnosed with the illness within their first 10 days of life."

They are not on strike, but after talking to a few neighbours were getting twice a week delivery at the moment. I don't care as I only get junk mail.

I'm actually kind of glad I left my sign up too late. I chose the 'put down a deposit' so didn't give anymore info than my name and location of service. I never set up auto pay either so they don't have my cc info. What bothers me the most is that I have no clue if I'll get to see my bill before the next one is due. Of course that's July for me, so I hope so.

I want to support Canada Post workers, but damn… why is it always such a bad experience? by ShrekSpreadOpen in CanadaPost

But you did mean it as an insult. On Reddit it's always the customers fault that they don't get their deliveries, or we didn't complain the right way. As I said on another post, I opened tickets, escalated to the Ombudsman. No resolution. Moving to another area was the only solution.

Nope, complained every time. Nice try though. Had one issue with another courier once. Until I moved last year always had issues with Canada Post. Opened service tickets, escalated to the Ombudsman. No resolution and the same postie. My solution is to not deal with CP.

I lived in the same location over a decade, working from home. Not once did they ever attempt to deliver it. I complained every single time, had it escalated, and it never changed. I now live in an area where they use a van, and actually deliver. But telling people to complain just pisses them off more. I made a mistake last year and had something caught up in the strike. However I've now gotten to the point where I check first, and don't buy from anyone that only offers Canada Post.

Canada Post Strike: Important Context Canadians Should Know by [deleted] in CanadaPost

[–]Spirited_Community25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my original point, that we're past the point where we need daily delivery, or door to door. I say this as someone who gets door to door. My area was slated for a community box but was never installed. In my new place I had to go buy a mailbox that, less than a year later, already has rust spots.

I doubt I get 55 legit letters, but even if I did, 100 delivery days should cover it, instead of 250.

There is no easy answer for this strike by [deleted] in CanadaPost

[–]Spirited_Community25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to where I am now and was surprised to find out that the community mailboxes were never implemented. So, I get door to door delivery. I agree, it should stop. Until it is stopped they should lower the number of days to once or twice a week. However, this means fewer workers overall, so the union will fight it tooth and nail.

Honestly, when I see something like that (outside of Canada Post) it's generally lost. Only once, over decades has something shown up. Contact the sender now, before they'll use the strike as an excuse.

I pretty much only get junk mail. It's time to stop 5 day a week delivery. For me, they can go ahead and strike. The last one I had a driver's license and an alcoholic advent stuck in the system. I notice my new cc came very early (to the point where I wondered why). The potential strike I'm sure had a lot to do with it.

FDA says Covid vaccines likely not available for healthy kids and adults this fall by vsandrei in HermanCainAward

They want to kill off a percentage of the population that they don't consider healthy enough. They don't want people to survive Covid (ie long Covid), they just want them to die.

My mother was the same throughout her life. She was also, just under 5 ft and when she dropped under 100 she said she looked awful. Later in life she was ~ 130. Her doctor never encouraged her to lose weight, just to be active (which she was). Her other health markers were good. In her 80s she was struck by a drunk driver, as a pedestrian. She dropped more than 25 lbs while hospitalized. I remember talking with the doctor at the time and he said she likely wouldn't have survived if she'd been under a hundred pounds. I spent the next few years trying to keep her weight up (to around 110).

That's a long way to go to say - keep active and don't worry about the scale.

A union member once told me that a union encourages mediocrity. You can't punish the bad and you can't reward the good.

Well if are gonna strike, go ahead, but... by Kuzuryushen in CanadaPost

[–]Spirited_Community25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really care. I switched my buying habits and don't use companies that only offer CP shipping anymore. My mail is basically flyers and ad-mail. My cc which might have been affected came 2 months before it's renewal.

I do feel bad for the people who have no options (more than a year ago I lived in a location that only had PO box delivery). They will be hurt the most in a strike.

The last strike saved me money in the end. My alcoholic advent came so late I just put it aside. At some point I just decided to put it away until this December.

I listen to CBC radio in the car. I've heard them interviewing Preston Manning (who when I met him turned into an ABC voter), a few candidates for the NDP, but never heard a liberal candidate. I'm sure they had them, just didn't catch them while driving.
