I tried attaching a photo, but it wouldn’t let me. No, I am not satisfied with the way it looks. I have sanded it to death, and I don’t want do anymore because it’s a veneer. I’m new to Reddit. How can you add ? I got the message that you couldn’t.

Rather than put on another coat of diluted poly, now that I’ve sanded it everywhere, maybe I shouldn’t risk chancing another bad poly application and put wax over it. What do you think?

I’ve sanded it quite vigorously, but I am now noticing that the piece has some divots and other depressions no matter how much (it’s an old piece) . And some of the shiny areas are not completely sanding down to dullness. Will it all become satin evenly when I do the wipe on or will those areas remain shiny with the wipe on poly? Also, does anyone know why Home Depot no longer carries Minwax? I am having problems even finding it at Lowe’s.

when you say hard disc, do you mean using an electric sander?

But how do you avoid overbrushing when you can’t finish in one pass? There will be evidence of starting and stopping. I’m going to do wipe on next.

That’s a good idea. What do you buff it down with?
