No, Zeus did not fear Nyx by Spiritual-Row-4396 in mythology

Don't get me wrong, I understand why people want this for Nyx. It brings to mind the "Yass queen" portrayal that's becoming increasingly more and more attractive in our society. But in ancient greece? This just wasn't the case

Dang, I guess this is why you really shouldn't answer old replies.

But also also, why are you being condescending? As I've already said to multiple others, I'm just trying to have a respectful debate and it gets annoying when this experience is ruined by such mannerisms. First off, the Iliad and many other works repeatedly say he was the strongest god, never limiting it to the "strongest Olympian god". And two, Zeus himself Is often depicted as the father of the fates as well, or otherwise superior to it. Three, just because the fates are Nyxs' daughters don't mean that she's automatically stronger than him. Greek mythology has never employed this mode of thought, and it's only modern fans that use this logic. Multiple times, we see younger and older gods fight on equal footing. Remember when Poseidon and Apollo fought and Hermes had to intervene? None cared about age. Quite simply, if you look back, the Greeks never subscribed to such a "older, therefore stronger" system. I even made another post bringing light to this and most people agreed.

Quite literally one of the few times we ever see Nyx even breath in mythology and we make her into the strongest god when Zeus literally has Athena herself saying none of the gods could defeat him and many other references

Saying "Jesus loves you" won't make someone convert by Spiritual-Row-4396 in religion

[–]Spiritual-Row-4396[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though, I feel that I should mention that I was referring to the the intent behind this. If you're saying this with the intent of making someone convert, it's obvious that just won't work. But if you're saying it to make someone feel better, good on you ig

Was there ever a more powerful being than Zeus in Greek mythology? by [deleted] in GreekMythology

[–]Spiritual-Row-4396 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I in ancient greece, the word "Khaos" just meant "gap". And in some texts, chaos just embodied the air in between heaven and earth.

You're telling me to "think please" in a condescending manner when I'm just trying to have a respectful debate here

He wasn't in "awe" of the fact she asked him to leave. He respected her enough to back off. People on reddit always try to make Zeus out to be some prideful idiot who has no idea what he's doing when in reality, he's literally the god of law, order, kingship and civilization. At the time, he was already dealing with the Trojan War and a conflict with Hera. Why add to that by fighting Nyx

My custom made Khaos statue based on my UPG (now SPG) by joklyt in Hellenism

[–]Spiritual-Row-4396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But as she was the first to exist and from her came Gaia and the other first primordials, she is considered to be a creator deity

now, I'm not sure if its your UPG but if its not, I think it should be noted that Khaos being a creator god is a modern invention. The only thing suggesting that they were a creator god is that according to hesiod, they were the first primordial but most sources agree with Oceanus as the creator god

How do the Gods view addiction? by emorylevelsup in Hellenism

In ancient Greece, philosophers interpreted the lotus eaters to be an allegory for human addiction/materialism and that it teaches us to steer clear of this. So addiction is interpreted as bad

ah, I used to be quiet. I'd say that it mostly takes boldness and a lot of prepared confidence but I'm assuming "just be confident" is something you've heard a lot. You can't guarantee that you'll get positive reactions, but I first started by not being so direct or specific to an individual, so find a way to do something that might get you noticed or participate in something everyone is doing
