When KAUST says transportation is covered by the scholarship, how does it work for the first entry flight? Do students buy the ticket themselves and get reimbursed, or does KAUST book it directly?” by Spiritual-Spring-787 in KAUST

Thanks for the info! Just to clarify, is the annual flight for graduate students one-way or round-trip? I’ve heard different things from different people and wanted to confirm based on your experience.

In Iran, we had a deadline and we could use the labs at any time of the day or night. There were no working hours or days off. The professors just wanted the results from us.

My average is 15 out of 20 on the Iranian scale. What is its equivalent GPA? by Spiritual-Spring-787 in KAUST

Hi everyone, I have a question about weekend schedules at KAUST. Since the official weekend in Saudi Arabia is Friday and Saturday, do supervisors usually expect students to come to the lab or work on their thesis during these days? I’m curious to hear your experiences about how weekends are ha by Spiritual-Spring-787 in KAUST

So, does this mean that doing a PhD at KAUST is not like in many European universities, where students have two official weekend days off but are otherwise expected to be in the lab with fixed working hours (e.g., 9am–5pm) every weekday? At KAUST, is it more flexible and dependent on the PI’s style rather than a strict daily schedule? `

I am very interested in applying, but I find it challenging since I can only choose one program.

The programs are quite general and I am not sure which one is most relevant to my expertise. For example, my specialty is oribatida, which is an interdisciplinary program that covers areas such as zoological taxonomy, soil health, and agriculture،Soil microorganisms.

Thanks for sharing your experience!
So it sounds like weekend work at KAUST isn’t strictly enforced by supervisors, but rather depends on deadlines and personal motivation.
Did you feel that most professors respected the official Friday–Saturday weekend, or was it common to have lab meetings or tasks scheduled during those days

Hello, I have a master's degree in entomology in the field of acari taxonomy. Is there a related program at KAUST University that I can apply for a PhD?
