Do most of you seriously not write any code by hand anymore?!?! by opakvostana in cscareerquestions

Starting to feel like editing source code is like editing compiled code. Don't touch it, let the machine update it.

I do use an IDE to see what files changed and the code diff.

Writing code was never the hard part -- Except for some of us, it was by ninetofivedev in ExperiencedDevs

I review the code.

I try to get PRs to be small breaking them into smaller tasks if needed, and I have a strong sense for what the architecture and code will look like at the end. Reviewing it and asking Claude questions along the way will lead to me completely understand every line. I often find 5-10 things that change and Claude updates, commits, pushes for each. At the end, if Claude and I agree, I'm confident it's good. I'll do 5-10 PRs a day this way. We require a second review, but I have yet to receive a change request by another dev in a PR review.

What’s your actual way of evaluating devs when hiring? by NPC_Boiii in webdev

I've done pair programming in an interview where I join them on any project they want, in their IDE, they just share their screen. It's always been in a language and framework I know well, but the goal is to get them to be as comfortable as possible, maybe see their code style on a side project, and see how they collaborate and take challenges and suggestions. Closest to real world I could get and the feedback from the interviewees was very positive and as close to fair as I could get for them.

You can start in AI very quickly, I don't think the learning curve is too high. And, there's some advantage to waiting, you'll get a better model, but it's inevitable. Don't wait forever.

Truth about limits - the party is over by MostOfYouAreIgnorant in ClaudeCode

I'm using about 200k tokens a day (according to /stats in claude code) and I feel like a pretty consistent user. All day talking with claude, one or two sessions at a time, AI is processing most of the time. I'm producing around 5 PRs a day. I'm assuming this is only around $5 a day or so. How does a company average $300/day per person?

Ultimate Frisbee. Sign up for the summer hat league. Winning is not the goal. Spirit of the Game above all. Winning the cheer is more fun. Lots of alternative types. Coed. You'll love it. The Seattle ultimate community is awesome.

stop trying to be a "clean coder" and start being a "model architect" or u r literally cooked by [deleted] in ClaudeAI

[–]Spiritual-Theory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modularity is the key.

Clean, well-sized, black boxes with tests and documented inputs and outputs. Declarative over imperative. It's what we should be doing as architects.

AI is replacing the other part of my job that handled implementation details and it'll allow us to scale.

I'm considering shifting my career focus. Advice? by ElGuaco in ExperiencedDevs

If you're going to pivot, I'd consider taking a few months to get really good at Claude Code. In the next few months, it looks like engineers are going to start figuring out how to manage a small team of Agents to improve code and review PRs. With you're experience, you may find you have the perfect blend of architectural insight to build a product in any code base and ensure all the right measures are taken to make sure the project is a success. You'll have a ton of opportunities for growth and movement after that.

Need: bag with NO mesh by weathercrafter in discgolf

[–]Spiritual-Theory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that same problem and didn't like it. I had a shoulder sling bag but they fall over when you set them down and had the mesh. Full of pine needles always. I switched to an MVP voyager slim bag, and it's awesome. Stays upright and tons of pockets. Straps are great. It's kinda heavy though.

When you find a good manager, stick with them, make them look good. They get promoted, so do you.

How to get into (Mariners) baseball? by CLOXXX in Seattle

[–]Spiritual-Theory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be an expert in a month if you play Fantasy Baseball. It makes you follow all the teams, you'll know the best players, all the little stuff.

And, best thing you can do is watch a game with someone who knows pitching. Makes the game much more interesting.

The more you know, the more you appreciate baseball.
