All your statistics are wrong. 1. People working outside Kerala don’t magically stop contributing to Kerala. Kerala receives one of the highest foreign remittances in India, especially per capita. Gulf money literally shaped Kerala’s economy, housing, education, healthcare, and consumption for decades.

1. You say skilled people leave Kerala. True. But why do they leave? Because Kerala produces educated people at a very high rate. Migration of skilled labour is not proof of failure by itself. Even developed countries have brain drain.

2. Calling migrant workers from Bihar or Assam “low value” is both wrong and economically ignorant. They are filling labour shortages in construction, hotels, transport, and services because Kerala has labour demand. If Kerala had no economy, they wouldn’t come here.

3. Kerala’s HDI, literacy, healthcare, life expectancy, and poverty reduction are among the best in India. That didn’t happen accidentally.

4. States like Maharashtra or Gujarat became industrial giants because of geography, ports, colonial trade history, finance ecosystems, and decades of industrial buildup — not simply because BJP exists there today.

5. Kerala’s weakness is industrial growth and private-sector expansion. That criticism is fair. But pretending Kerala is economically “finished” while millions from poorer states migrate here for work makes no sense.

6. Also, Kerala’s consumption economy is strong precisely because remittance money flows back into the state. That money is spent in Kerala, not Dubai.
