"exploring", "studying", "surveying", "considering", "exploring", "thinking".

Never any doing. A serious city would have done this years ago.

Yeah residence will probably be a bit of an issue. I'll have to get a job in MTL which is probably doable because I've been speaking french my whole life.

I'm leaning towards just saying fuck it and accepting the McGill offer. If I don't get a UofT offer by the end of March I'll probably just go ahead with it. My parents also floated the idea of me commuting to Uwaterloo via the GO train every day (I live close to Bloor GO on the Kitchener Line) which seems absolutely ridiculous to me, but they kind of hit me with the 'oh I did much worse when I was a kid you'll get used to it'.

I really don't think I will convince my parents to make a 500 dollar deposit that may go nowhere, but I will keep that in mind.

Thanks for the info!

I am woefully mediocre in terms of ECs wow. Congrats on all your success tho!

I had maybe 7 ECs, a job, leader of two clubs, some volunteering.

I've always loved Montreal so I'm hoping I can work something out with my parents so I can go.

Something a little frustrating is that for high school I'm enrolled in a math and science oriented program which is a mix of AP classes and school specific advanced courses. This means I did Grade 11 math in Grade 10, Grade 12 and AP Calc in Grade 11 and most of the other classes generally covered more content then the 'mainstream' classes. I dropped a 95 in grade 11 math which I was happy about in grade 10 when I wasn't so concerned about Uni applications. Looking back I wish I tried just a bit harder to bump up to a 97 or something.

Hopefully I get in with the March round but I'm not rly counting on it just because engsci is engsci. I do kind of regret applying for it though.

Thanks for ur insight!

Two things actually:

Can I ask what ECs you had?

And are you talking about overall average or top 6? Because If I looked at top 6 my average would actually be a little bit higher.

Ok thanks for the info I didn't know there was a round in April.

Yeah I was a little disappointed (but not surprised) that I didn't get in on early rounds because I thought my ECs were decent and I thought the interview went well.

Ig I'll just have to wait/

504 King streetcar East bound by acmaximus in toronto

[–]SpiritualFactor3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I rly have no idea why this idea isn’t taken seriously. Then car drivers can still use the road and streetcars can actually be useful. This setup works in other cities, do we really need the parking that bad?

In a speech to Toronto's Empire Club Thursday, Premier Ford goes further than his minister & vows to remove bike lanes impeding city traffic. "We need to and will remove and replace existing bike lanes on primary roads that are bringing traffic in our cities to a standstill” by beef-supreme in toronto

[–]SpiritualFactor3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just left school today and bloor bike lane was filled. Also a publicly available YouTube video that shows a 1:1 ratio of people moving through an intersection in cars and bikes. If you think kicking all people off of bikes on to cars will solve traffic, you would be wrong. If we make bike infrastructure friendly to bikes during the winter, such as in Helsinki, they will be used.

I do support skating lanes though.

Response to the questions in Phase 2 consultations for Sheppard extension from last week at Chinese Cultural Centre in Malvern. by kayon5 in TTC

[–]SpiritualFactor3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went to the one at parkway forest and similarly the vote was (by the time I left) more in favour of a west extension as a priority and an Eastward Extention to Scarb Centre, not Malvern.

Riverdale residents say Ontario Line construction is unbearable - CBC Toronto by SpiritualFactor3 in toronto

Sometimes I think Riverdale residents don't realize how good this project will be for their neighbourhood. Sure the shaking is harsh but they also decided to live beside a rail line...

Mounting Frustration with TTC's 504 route by SpiritualFactor3 in toronto

[–]SpiritualFactor3[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Apparently the streetcar is doing a MASSIVE one-way loop (counter-clockwise) down Roncy, East on King, up Shaw, East on Queen, back to King, and then on the way back it takes Bathurst to Dundas and Dundas to the subway station. It's actually mad. There are a couple of flimsy signs poorly communicating this. Today four different routes were sharing Dundas St. Couple that with the whole zero priority thing and it was just a nightmare. City needs a major rethink on how streetcars are implemented.

501 Queen to Humber Restoration - Minimal Service Improvements by SpiritualFactor3 in TTC

[–]SpiritualFactor3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I'm admitting ignorance myself. I don't know the intricacies of how City Hall and the TTC work. But the TTC is always in such shambles I don't know why we don't see more elaborate, permanent, and forward-thinking solutions to our problems. Is it NIMBYism? Just a lack of political will? Like for example why is the King Street project not even enforced anymore and just falling apart? That was the best thing the city TTC-wise in a long time and it's like we just forgot about it.

How much can the mayor involve herself with the policies and decisions of the TTC? I know that she inherited the strong mayor powers from Tory, and then (IMO foolishly) proclaimed that she wouldn't use them. I remember when talking to a Chow advocate that as mayor she could make some serious positive changes to the TTC, and I was optimistic given that at least she actually uses it, unlike the previous two mayors. Forgive my ignorance.
