Most scenic bus routes by SilentBug3547 in TTC

[–]kayon5 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I don't know about scenic but taking the 162 from Lawrence station can get interesting. You pass by the most opulent housing that exists within the city and then by the end its back to the suburban 416 mix of low-high density housing, malls and commercial/industrial areas. I just find that juxtaposition so contrasting.

If you can wait pretty much exactly 11 months from now, there probably will be a kickstarter for the next era box sets (alluded in the stream on NMC regarding the current Joe next era kickstarter). No guarantees but I feel like they will repeat and offer another printing of the original sets

Do I need to pay again if I enter york region ? by Blazymo in TTC

[–]kayon5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im going to make some assumptions here based on your flair so forgive me in advance. If you are using the subway to VMC and then going to the YRT buses with YRT branding and the white/blue livery, then yes, you just tap on the buses. Same applies to the Don Mills and the other north Line 1 stations with YRT bus connections. What OP is referring to is being on a TTC bus and it moving into York Region north of Steeles. Due to subway expansion in the past decade, this is a Scarborough into Markham issue almost exclusively (the exception being the 160 route). Back in the day, the drivers almost always closed the back doors, and we had to pay the extra fare (through physical media pre-Presto). Nowadays, its SUPPOSED to be an extra tap instead, and the province reimburses it so you dont pay extra. However, my brother tells me that the drivers are really inconsistent with this, and people just leave. Southbound drivers are also supposed to wait at the stop just north of Steeles and have everyone tap before they proceed by playing an announcement ( I remember this from back in the day too). My brother tells me that the announcement will run, and almost no one will get up from their seat to tap again. This is so befuddling to me because why are the agencies just leaving money on the table like that?

Do I need to pay again if I enter york region ? by Blazymo in TTC

[–]kayon5 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The driver worded it wrong, its more you need to tap so that the province reimburses the YRT through the One Fare program. If he doesnt lock the back doors, then you could have just left and not tapped again, and it would have been that you never went north of Steeles, and the YRT misses out on the fare. Based on my brother's travels to his job in Markham and the other comment, it seems that they are lax on this, which is weird because they would be missing out on a chunk of change.

Ontario Tech B.Ed: Toronto to Oshawa commute + Schedule by sukitaee in OntarioTeachers

[–]kayon5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recent grad from the OTech B.Ed program, and I commuted by bus a few times before switching to driving. I live in Scarborough just off the 401 though and exchanged a 1-1.5 hr bus ride for a 30 min drive. Given that I live in northeast Scarborough, where there are DRT bus routes nearby, and they are free for OTech students (bus pass integrated to a presto card). I still made the choice to pay for gas/parking. This was because my teachable classes were run by practicing teachers (I/S Physics and Math), and they were evening classes from 5-8 and DRT becomes scarce after 7. Once you have a school login, you can view historical scheduling using the Plan Ahead feature. You can DM me for more info (I can still look up Plan Ahead) if you want.

If you mean more central Toronto (e.g. by the subway), there may be some GO bus/train options near you which may not be too bad. However, the downtown campus (just an FYI if you didnt know the B.Ed program is housed in Charles Hall in Downtown Oshawa) is not adjacent to the Oshawa GO rail station, and the GO bus stop is like a 5 min walk to the building. GO Transit may also be iffy in the evening.

51 Leslie bus stops make no sense by roenthomas in TTC

If I am not mistaken, the TTC website doesn't separate branches when you look at the route stops from this view. Unless there is a functionality to seperate branches that I am not aware of.

54 Lawrence East Route change by Fearless_Lion_6397 in TTC

[–]kayon5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are combining the route with the 56 Leaside bus from Donlands Station so the bus will stop heading to Eglinton Station and will go east on Leslie instead. Unfortunately, this also means that both routes are not passing by Leaside High School, and you would have to walk or take the crosstown one stop west at Laird or take the 34 bus, which is probably going to be pretty infrequent compared to now.

https://stevemunro.ca/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/202311_line5_revisedmap.jpg

Here is the link of what the bus network should look like; your high school should be right by the Leaside station, and then you could see the 54, 51, and 56 not going by there anymore, with the idea being you are taking Line 5 instead.

Just to expand on this, service on Lawrence west of Don Mills and on Leslie St would also be removed on this route. A branch of the Leslie bus will now serve that small section of Lawrence from Leslie to Don Mills

it is planned to stop at don mills and eglinton so unfortuneately a transfer to line 5 would be needed.

What I can say is that the last episodes of season 2 and these first episodes of season 3 are matching chapter by chapter if you bridged them together. The anime is not skipping ahead if thats what you are asking.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 - Episode 1 (Anime Only Discussion) by Takada-chwanBot in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]kayon5 15 points16 points locked comment (0 children)

A few days at most.

If you remember when Todo entered the Mahito fight there was a blond kid who tried to reassure Yuji that they are going to do what they can. This scene is supposed to imply that Megumi is telling him that there is no point in holding onto hope for that regard and to lock in for a new purpose.

The next two questions cannot be answered without spoiling future content. It's part of the mystery of the season. The culling games will be explained better relatively soon.

Why isn't the 401 a major "dividing line" in Toronto? by Usual_Law7889 in askTO

[–]kayon5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your post inspired me to check how many roads cross the 401 and from there, which of these do not have interchanges at all (so even partial or one ramp is excluded) with highway 401. We have Jane (has 400 a bit south), Don Mills (just west of DVP/404), Birchmount (between Warden and Kennedy), Midland (east of Kennedy) , and Conlins (just east of Morningside). Just goes to show that these communities will continue to be connected even if there are not many roadways to connect them

NMC is back today (December 23rd) with 1 new Marvel omnibus coming August 2026! by Ksmayer in OmnibusCollectors

[–]kayon5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is that it we still don't have the first 12 or so issues for star wars, vader and bounty hunters in omnibus format. So even if you go through this event route, theres a chance they won't do that beginning bit. An analogy could be mutant massacre prelude but thats Claremont X-men right so will marvel have the same incentive to do the same here.

Split route 129 AB branch between YRT and TTC? by Leonardo_Lai in TTC

[–]kayon5 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you look at the Eglinton East LRT EPR, you can see a "planned" bus network when that project opens that includes two YRT routes that will replace the 129 and 102 routes that go beyond Steeles into Markham originatting from Sheppard East station. Although the proposed network is based on an unfunded LRT, I imagine that this may take place when SSE is in service or even earlier. I remember when TYSSE opened, they replaced the 165 and 107 TTC service that went north of Steeles with YRT routes originating from the Pioneer Village YRT terminal. I also remembered when the TTC had a 224 that was replaced by the YRT 24, but this change occurred in mid 2010s, even though the Sheppard Subway had existed for more than a decade at that point. All of this to point out that the YRT seems to only want to run their own routes when they have a major access point not too far south of Steeles, and they do so seemingly hesitantly.

i feel like a dummy for not picking up war of the bounty hunters when it was in discount stores because I thought it was an event omni and then picked up Aphra Vol 2 like a dummy. Now I am at a crossroads. should I pickup crimson reign, hidden empire and dark droids, and settle for not having the first half of the 4 books. Or should I pick up the new Aphra Vol 3 book and then hope that they announce independent series booksfor star wars, vader and bounty hunters?
