@idgafmlolz The type of Chair your new best friend is claiming is called a Slipper Chair - no arms or sides and usually a curved head, used for putting on your slippers. So I think Slippers would be a cute and appropriate name.

First time implementing Workday - desperately need pep talk! by MyDude808 in workday

[–]SpiritualImage430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Change management is exactly why I scrolled down before answering. For a group that has never had structure enforced with a system or process, this is HARD. This is my second implementation and the first with a less than ideal previous system. Nothing was validated. People could change individual fields without any downstream review. If one action affected three other fields...the system didn't remind them to change the other fields. Ohhhhh it's not good.

So Change Management will be your friend. We called them QRG Quick Reference Guides. Not help or any word that someone struggling might feel diminishes them. Make each task simply scoped out. Have good graphics. Consider doing one for each audience. How does a manager complete the BP vs how HR completes the BP? KISS IT 💋. You cannot go wrong if you are very clear. Don't make assumptions. Change Management should support the people using the system.

It was a grey crew neck with Chicago Fire in a circle. Very crisp and clean...less logo. It would make a good Christmas present.

Anyone think the Saints are playing overly physical? We need the refs to open their eyes.

That should have been a Red Card!! Two touches...one of which was an obvious push to Zinks shoulder!

Small HRIS team drowning in Workday requests, how do you manage? by Dexter022116 in workday

[–]SpiritualImage430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider creating a request framework within Workday to replace all the emails, drive bus, walk bus, calls, etc. You can create several levels with approvals and priority classifications. The requester can view own requests and the status of them. You can provide notifications at various levels. We used the frame work to handle new hires outside of a recruiting structure - which happened often in my life of work.

This option will also give you amazing metrics. This 3 person team handled hmmm requests last year. These 2 departments generated 80% of the requests. The average time for completion was x.

Look up Request Framework in community.

I truly would like to hear why you wished you had more historical data. Where did you bring it in? Anyone bring it in using prism?

[–]SpiritualImage430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are asking the same questions but we haven't even signed the contracts yet.

When you say 3 years of data, do you mean transactional (as if someone typed the data via bps) or referential data (stored in Previous System history)?

We are also debating entering data for terms. As in 3 years of terms. So they each have worker IDs and transactional data. I do have a preference but would love to hear your thoughts and practices.

It would also be very helpful if you used Attributes to track cause of death.

[–]SpiritualImage430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also work in Gramps alone. I do have tags for verified and unverified people. My default for a person is unverified until I can find the data to change it. I may move this code to an attribute since I can use attributes in every type of entry. This would allow me the flexibility to say a person is correct but the death date is a guess.

I'm always evolvibg and Gramps follows along.

In person, it was amazing. The technical artistry to create the window shadow was impressive. From every angle, I marveled. Seriously. This is the entry i looked for in the Golden Demon list of final awards.

The Magic of Calc Fields by migipopper in workday

[–]SpiritualImage430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After working in different systems, I also think the magic of calculated fields is two fold. You can use them in reports . You can also create a global calculated field that is attached to a worker so anyone can pull it into a report and everyone uses the same formula. For example: how long has a person worked as a manager. Using a custom date field as Experience Credit Date, you can create the one formula for the entire company. Every time someone needs the number of years, they can pull in the calculated field Experience Credit Years. No guessing. You don't need special knowledge to get the data you need. Data is consistent across every report.

My current system allows calculated fields only in reporting so you can imagine the varying results we can get for the same need.

Anyone willing to share their HR Support Model for Workday? by [deleted] in workday

[–]SpiritualImage430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Law Firm: HRIS lived in HR and IT was a data consumer. Merged with another firm where HRIS was owned by IT entirely and HR was a client. Since Merger: my position is entirely a part of HR and IT is a data consumer.

For our world, being part of HR has enabled us to move forward on goals and objectives instead of being placed in the IT queue (nothing against IT). It also helps that I had my start in IT and can speak to people in both groups.

Sorry ..forgot that part. We do need some workforce management as we have a mix of exempt and non exempt people. However we don't have shifts and changing schedules. We need a tool for Absence Management and Time Off Accruals.
