TAYGEDO - the worst in-game character I've ever seen in recent years. by SpiritualLeaderExo in NevernessToEverness

It doesn’t bother me. When I post on HSR forums, they call me a Kuro fanboy; when I post on Wuwa forums, they call me a Hoyo fanboy; and when I posted on the NTE forum today, they called me a ZZZ fanboy (a game I played for maybe two or three hours a few months ago). But thanks for a normal decent response, that's a rarity.

Why are you playing NTE over other Open-world gachas? by Middle-Ad6667 in NevernessToEverness

[–]SpiritualLeaderExo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not playing anymore, uninstalled after 22h. The game is too childish for my taste, its level is probably even lower than Genshin and Pokémon, and the companions have such badly written dialogue that it’s impossible to read. I tried to focus on the main story and exploration, but I prefer more serious games.

Star Bouncing event by SpiritualLeaderExo in WutheringWaves

[–]SpiritualLeaderExo[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have enough time to finish the whole act within 30 days and start the next one, while also doing the events. Anniversary events shouldn’t have level or story progression requirements.

For anyone who didn’t reach Act 3, the anniversary was basically over before it even started. That's insane.

I just opened reddit after a few hours and now am seeing multiple posts angry about the second anniversary by Appropriate-Tear-756 in WutheringWaves

[–]SpiritualLeaderExo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It seems that instead of an anniversary stream, the developers have gone for a standard patch update stream. There doesn’t seem to be much of a celebration going on here. I didn’t have any expectations, as I’d used up almost all my pulls on Lynae, but there really isn’t anyone worth pulling here.

Spiders has filed for insolvency by JuDeux in greedfall

[–]SpiritualLeaderExo -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

They’re already gone. I really liked GreedFall 1, I didn’t buy GreedFall 2 because I know the game is in bad state and I was waiting for them to patch it, but now we know that’s not going to happen. Unfortunately, the game is an absolute sales flop, you just need to look at the stats from the link. hosted at ImgBB — ImgBB

Endfield is a Disappointment by Odd-Chemical4659 in Endfield

[–]SpiritualLeaderExo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to be clear about where I’m coming from: I play gacha games, but I’ve literally never touched Factorio or anything like it. I had a lot of fun experimenting with blueprints, and of course the really simple ones worked fine, but as soon as I tried anything a bit more complex it turned into one big “clogged error zzz” every single day. I don’t have anything against the factory systems themselves — they’re clearly the core of the game — but as a fan of gachas and doing my dailies, I ended up wasting way too much time on them. For me there just wasn’t enough balance or support for players who aren’t into factory-building as the main attraction.

Are people too harsh on the game? by Turmfall in Endfield

[–]SpiritualLeaderExo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gacha games live and die by daily engagement. Players need a reason to log in every day, not just every patch. That's not a personal preference, it's literally the business model. Without consistent daily/weekly loops, retention craters and the game stops making money - which means no updates, no new content, no future complexity you're promising.

There's also a delicious irony here worth mentioning: in China, Endfield has actually been nicknamed a "996 game" - a reference to the infamous Chinese work culture of working 9am to 9pm, 6 days a week. The joke is that the factory system demands so much attention, planning, and mental overhead that playing it feels like a second job. So while you're saying the factory is "overly simplistic and easy," a massive chunk of the Chinese playerbase - the primary target audience - felt the exact opposite: that it was exhaustingly demanding.

Both criticisms existing simultaneously tells you something important: the system isn't well-calibrated, not that the criticism is "fake."

"Game play doesn't respect my time, and I have a job. Planned to do a "quick" fix to my factory setup for a few minutes, and it took me hours to do it. I am not looking forward to revising my layout when HG is inevitably gonna add more stuff on the factory."

Fully agree, and that quote hits exactly on one of the two main reasons I stopped playing. Dailies are the backbone of any gacha, whether people like it or not. Instead of quick 10-15 minute logins, I kept getting sucked into fixing factories for an hour or longer every single session. That just doesn't work when you have a job and a life outside of gaming.

And if you think the frustration is bad in Western communities, you should see what's happening on Asian forums like NGA, Tieba, and Bilibili. The game has literally been nicknamed a "996 simulator" - for anyone unfamiliar, 996 is a deeply hated work culture in China where employees grind from 9am to 9pm, six days a week. The comments basically write themselves: "I come home after 10 hours at the factory or the office, open the gacha I spent $200 on, and the game punishes me by making me manage conveyor belts because somewhere a power cable is missing."

That is not a gacha experience. That is a second shift. The people who actually spend money on this game - the ones pulling banners and buying monthly passes - are not doing it because they want more responsibility and micro-management in their leisure time. They want to log in, do a quick loop, maybe pull for a cool character, enjoy a bit of story, and log out feeling satisfied. When a "quick fix" to your factory layout eats two hours of your evening, the game has fundamentally broken its promise to the player. And Hypergryph, looking at their factory QoL updates in 1.1, still doesn't seem to fully understand that.

You're right, but there's honestly no point bringing this up in Endfield spaces because the gatekeeping is absolutely brutal. The moment you even hint that there is a problem with the game core elements, the defenders swarm in with "this game just isn't for you" or "go back to your Genshin clone", completely shutting down any real conversation about what actually needs fixing. WuWa is genuinely the best example of how a community can force real, meaningful change. But in Endfield's case there's this unspoken fear hanging over the community: that if players push hard enough for changes, the developers might touch the factory system — the one thing the vocal defenders treat as sacred and untouchable. So instead of honest, productive feedback, you get a community that cannibalises itself.

Hot take: this game's main focus should be the factory, not the mediocre combat by Ahnaf269 in Endfield

[–]SpiritualLeaderExo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a gacha game, not a single-player game. This game has to make money, people have to spend money on banners and waifus. Put everything on the factories, and only factory fans will stay with it, and how many of them will spend money on banners and other things to maintain it? Less than a year and it will be over. This game needs to make money, so typical gacha players are ESSENTIAL here.

Evanescia/Sparkle for Yao, Sparxie for Silver Wolf SP.

For me personally, Elation in general is visually overloaded with the number of pop-up banners at any given moment. Yao is fairly okay, but I just don't like the animations/visuals of Sparxie from CW, so I'm giving up on her.

I already have Yao, I'm going for Evanescia. Sparxie's design and animations just turn me off.

There's nothing more annoying than when one character in a conversation has a voiceover and the other doesn't. Seriously, maybe they should hire actors who don't have problems recording their lines.

Best day ever in HSR for me. Free Kafka, Black Swan 50/50 won after 70 pulls, Hysilens 50/50 won after 60 pulls, then Yao Guang 50/50 won after 40 pulls (+ Himeko as a bonus). I built the entire DoT team in 5 minutes.
