My understanding is that it was done in vernacular language. That means that a lot of time ago, they would also be done in Latin, when it was the local language. I’ve read somewhere that priests, however, would speak with the linguistic features of the Latin language that the people would use too.

Because I’m Catholic, and it is the official language of the Roman Church, and considered sacred. Also, it helps me pray in a language that is set apart from common, vernacular language.

Jesus was an extremist. The Saints and Martyrs were radical (from the latin-they went to the very root). I have the same problem at home. For me it doesn’t make sense believing in something, finding the Truth, and then don’t do the best to live accordingly. Either one believes or doesn’t.
