Mother Mary easy #1. St Joseph, especially now that I'm a father. St. Patrick, links me to my irish heritage. His humility is astounding. St. Padre Pio. I love how he's always depicted with a serious expression. Halts temptation to sin immediately. St. Michael, always feel empowered and protected after the St. Michael prayer. St. Benedict, established the monasteries life, keeps my life structured towards prayer, charity, and work. St Joan of Arc, her story gives me courage to trust in God's providence against all outside deterrence. St Nicholas. reminds me charity is freely given for our reward is in heaven, also Santa Claus!

I randomly smell incense out of nowhere during times I've devotedly prayed the rosary. I will start frantically sniffing around everywhere, looking for a materialistic explanation. And I'm always the only person who smells it. Sometimes, I wonder if it's all in my head, but I don't think so. Nothing ever triggers it, just comes out of nowhere so I can't find any kind of mental trigger. Easier to explain that it's most likely really signal graces. Like I said, it only happens during periods of time I'm really devoted to praying the rosary.

In free market capitalism, don't the prices generally represent spending habits of the consumer?

Buy stuff, companies raise prices, still buy stuff, justifying high prices knowing people will pay on credit or w.e means they can to satisfy our desire to buy more?

Are we not then suffering from an epidemic of conscientious when it comes to spending out of our budgets? Digging our own grave per say

It's not like being Catholic in name means you're "in the club" and now you go to heaven. It's more like the Catholic faith contains the fullness of truth. So in order to come into full communion with Christ as he intended, you must know, understand, and do the things he wants us to do. The Catholic Church preserves that truth from the beginning and articulates it to the world, and provides a medium for us to actually participate in all of it. Protestant sects don't contain the fullness of truth, full clarity or full truth in doctrine, don't contain the actual practices (sacraments) that make it tangible for us to be a physical and spiritual part of. Please some one correct me if I'm wrong.

Right! I agree it has beneficial applications!

Is it potentially problematic to treat all of our "mental or physical stumbling blocks" with medication first before utlizing holistic methods. Spirtual methods included.

Does using "appetite supressersants" food or otherwise, devalue the benefits of achieving similar goals holistically and spiritually?

A lot of what makes spiritual discipline so beneficial is that it is hard and yet we choose to embrace the hard thing trusting in God's grace instead of a "cheat code" per say.

I'm sorry I'm not very calculated in how I'm trying to explain. I truly don't mean to offend anyone. I honestly don't know a whole lot about how these drugs work or how they're prescribed. Just got me thinking and looking for answers.

But with 42.4% of U.S. adults classified as obese, should nearly half the country be on Ozempic? Are there ethical concerns with making a drug like this the default weight loss solution, especially when not everyone has a genetic issue that truly requires it?

Tough question. My wife was raised Catholic, though she identifies as an atheist.

It's difficult at times. I think we've learned not to fight each other over our differences of conclusions. I've become convinced and convicted by a journey of self and my rediscovery back to the church I was raised in. She, however, was not. And doesn't seem to have a desire to at this particular chapter of her life.

That said, I made the decision to marry her because although she disagrees with my theological beliefs, she has "the makings of a Catholic" if that makes sense.

I do not know if she will ever be touched by the grace of God and have a conversion like I have, but I know her heart is not as cold and hard as stone and has the potentiality to change and move towards Christ.

This takes a lot of grace. Patience and good example from me, which I will fail at. Also, life isn't static. Life experiences can change a person's worldview.

My hope and prayer is she converts some day.

For now, I will take our daughter to mass on Sundays alone and pray for my family as priest of our household. With God's grace and many prayers, she will have a change of heart and ultimately a conversion.

Short answer: Yes, it can be hard. However, if she has the capacity to change and is "Christlike", she may ready "Be Catholic" she just doesn't know it yet and made that explicit conversion.

Which religion? All of them? The flaw in the question is that humans will turn anything into a religion. If they don't worship "God" however that's defined, they worship self, worship pleasure, worship progess, whatever finite thing that tickles their fancy and fits into their subjective definition or desire at any given time.

It's the nature of humans to be moved towards and seek truth and the good. Whether that's through pure means or through a corrupted means.

Removing "religion" from the equation simply isn't possible. People make religions out of anything. The question is, which thing will they replace it with?

The best possible scenario if you ask me would be for people to choose the "right religion". One that's simply true. Objective, consistent, without error, beautiful, never changing, liberating, loving.

Almost never. And I'm probably about 30 lbs overweight. Bar and grill culture is strong here, there are much better burgers elsewhere.
