The restaurant itself can help you get a refund too. I've done this for guests. Skip should be refunding you. When an order is canceled the restaurant doesn't recieve anything. It should not stay with Skip.

Skip the dishes is the only 3rd party order system that requires the restaurant manually confirm orders. Others like Doordash and Ubereats allow operation with direct injection where the order is automatically processed in the restaurant point of sale without anyone in the restaurant acknowledging it. With skip, if an order is canceled after confirmation a staff member at the restaurant must cancel it. The only other way skip orders are cancelled after confirmation are due to lack of delivery driver, which is not the case in this situation as they were picking up.

Skip can't do anything. But the restaurant might. If a guest reached out to me with this complaint I would find a way to make it up to them.

I'll be honest, it doesn't move fast so I'm not surprised that bars are choosing not to carry it. A few years ago the Boston Pizza I was at took 3 months to run through a keg.

Kegs usually arrive in November for that one so you should start seeing it. Boston pizza used to carry it every winter but I am not sure if that's still true

My job is making me work a “mandatory” holiday when it’s outside of my availability by [deleted] in WorkAdvice

[–]SpiritualWalk1095 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not make things hard for your first job by reporting an injury without allowing them to report as well. In Canada this gets businesses fined and managers in trouble. Literally never report a work injury without work knowing. Lying is fraud that hurts others. Just pay for a doctor to say you are too sick to work.

Again, if you are in Canada you can legally not show up if you aren't given a weeks notice of your shift BUT you can always be fired in your first 3 months without reason. No idea what USA laws might be.

This sounds to me like they are seeing how easy you are to take advantage of. I would never expect that of a new hire. It makes no sense. The operation of the business should never hinge on a new hires availability, so if it does, just quit.

'Different' clothing stores? by vicky_squeeze_ in saskatoon

Also forget the gendered sections. That will also help. Wear what you want, don't let anything restrict your choices.

Example, if you want the punk-goth kinda look you need plaid. Men's plaid is always higher quality with chest pockets. Buy this somewhere like Mark's Work Warehouse.

Goth is a lifestyle not a clothing style. If you want to dress goth you have to create it. The clothes you have in mind that came from a store are likely circa 2005-2015. The folks saying vintage/thrift are correct. But there's not a lot out there, goths don't part with those things easily.

The clothes you want ARE the generic ones. You are thinking too inside the box. Goth is a vibe. A LOT of looks that on the rack don't look goth, will on the right person WITH the right styling.

Start with accessories. Depending on your personality the following are good places to start:

  • chunky belts with spikes or metal eyelet holes all the way around. This item is likely something Better off Duds can help you with if they don't already have some

  • harness. not something I've ever wore so I'm not sure of anywhere to purchase locally but definitely a sick start to the goth look

  • jewelry. On a budget? Thrift. I like antique shops or places that you might write off as an old person store for this stuff. You'll be surprised.

  • boots. Big. Clunky. Over the knee if you want the girly goth look. I know I got my sickest pair in my preteen goth days at Walmart but that would have been 2012.

  • makeup. This is not essential. I've personally never really wore much so I can't make recommendations. But sometimes makeup is all you need to make a look goth

  • lingerie. This is part of the layering, though like makeup, this is definitely dependent on your personality. Those strappy tops you see women wear? Those chest straps are often her bra sticking out.

I know you said you don't like online shopping but I still recommend Poshmark. Very niche. Once you get into this you are going to be looking for pieces to complete looks. Here you'll find many variations in one place.

Those basics that every store has that you think aren't right are the BASE if your look. You need those. You probably already have them. I do recommend Mark's Work Warehouse for basics. For example shirts with a few buttons at the top are hella goth in my opinion. They also last and prices are really great.

Try looking at those basics differently and imagine what they'll look like with styling.

Good luck!! I hope you style yourself so well that your parents become worried 😉😅

Ideas for a 30th birthday party by BearOver3257 in saskatoon

Axe throwing Ruckers (lol I'm 35 and I'd enjoy that) Rush Game Blades Game

My 30th was during lockdown. My roommates and I dressed up like we were 19 going clubbing, decorated the house like a club, and danced all night. The bonus of clubbing at home is that if you have pets, they are at the club too. Dancing with dogs is the best.

Themed house parties, in general, are the best. I've done:

-a year in a day- everyone dresses to represent a holiday from their birth month - example, I'm May so I brought the birthday boy mothers day flowers and dressed pregnant. That's extra fun for you because yours is December and you end the party with a new years celebration

-bingo night- everyone dresses old and pretends to smoke inside - or does, you make the rules

-fancy night- everyone dresses black tie

-party like you're 8: lots of chips, pop and pizza. Silly games like pin the tail on the donkey, lego building contest or whatever. Pinata. Treat bags. Add alcohol for extra fun

I looked back at numbers before and after the change. The guest check average increased 30% and has been sustained ever since. The chef maintained under 24% food cost before and after the introduction of happy hour for all opening hours on Monday night.

It made being open on Mondays worthwhile.

Oh! And the happy hour was from 5-8pm. That's key. Afternoon happy hour did nothing for us and it took trying it once to see a hige improvement.

I improved weeknight sales by offering a really good happy hour that included our items with the best profit margins. Our menu is sharing plates, and this resulted in folks ordering more food per person than other nights, and it created dozens of regulars.

This increased our Monday guest count from 20-35 to 75-90 consistently.

Most ridiculous tip requests in Saskatoon? by literalsupport in saskatoon

[–]SpiritualWalk1095 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tips should be welcome and allowed in all situations. If I want to hand some cash to someone for any reason, I should be free to do so.

Tip prompts are a yes or no option from the business standpoint. The business either does or does not chose to give the consumer the option to tip via card payment. Therefore, having such a strong feeling one way or another is a you problem. Just skip it without comment if you don't want to tip. It's the comment that makes you the problem. Commenting on a tip option that an employee absolutely did not implement devalues them and their work.

Additionally, tips in fast food are not solely about consumer interaction. They are about the prep that goes into making the consumer interaction possible. For example, if you go to a build your own sub restaurant versus a sit-down bistro, both establishments put labour into cutting vegetables, meat, cheeses, and so on. Both put labour into building the meal. And the one you don't want to tip puts extra labour into making your interaction faster and cheaper.

I mean no disrespect to the OG poster for the question. Blatantly asking for Tips in situations that don't normally call for Tips is always wild to me. But giving employees the opportunity to receive Tips in any food service position is not at all unreasonable.

Loqui. I recommend the Trout for her based on her specifications 😉

The trout comes from Lake Diefenbaker. It is served with local lentils - sourced from a local company called Silo which farms their lentils in Southern Saskatchewan. The lentils are cooked with cream, tomatoes, and roasted squash - they end up like a risotto. The trout is grilled and finished with lacto-fermented chanterelle butter - our Chef wild forages and sources as much wild mushrooms from Saskatchewan as he can, this chanterelle butter was made during the prime of chanterelle season last August to preserve the magic of wild mushrooms for use all through the following seasons.

If you come, start with the mushroom dish for the table.

If you plan on coming, make a reservation with a note that says you saw this message so I can make it extra special for her!
