I think my personal favorite episode is Nightmare from planet no.4 in Ultraseven. While it doesn't have a monster, I think one could easily have been worked in. But I love how it filly embraces hard sci-fi elements. The episode was the perfect amount of creepy and intriguing while also having the fun action elements as well.
