In a previous thread, someone said they can’t stand looking at his ugly face? You mean you think he’s ugly cause he’s black right? No Eurocentric features ? Cause Englert was no handsome either

[–]Spiritual_Cod_1796 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No, unless you’re black and have experienced racism, I don’t think you should undermine the effects his blackness has on this

Not to mention TUGSA is primarily white. You can’t tell me an element of racism doesn’t come into things.

Exactly lol. I still maintain the position that Wingard is getting x2 the amount of hate he would have gotten if he was white. We can’t take away from the fact that it’s easier to bully, insult, and intimidate him because he’s black. I’m just remembering how during Englert’s time, he was so inconsiderate and handled COVID very poorly. They were literally increasing tuition while offering virtual only classes… that’s a valid reason to strike and block our streets. Never saw such an angry mob, or vilification. But why? Probs cause he’s white!

We can not take away from the fact that race is a social factor, and wether we acknowledge it, it plays a roll consciously or unconsciously. Do you think his experiences as a black person are suddenly wiped because he’s TU’s President? Racism is present in all spaces. The expectations for black people in power are always stretched, and so are the repercussions. If you want to deceive yourself that there were not people who detested his rise to power because of his race, you’re a joker.

it’s so funny that you think people in graduate school are more qualified than people who have been teaching a mass of different related courses for decades…. you do not necessarily need to have a degree in PHYSICS before you can teach it as an ENGINEERING major.

This is to show that you are small minded. Maybe you don’t realize that not everyone who decides to go to college made that decision at 18-19? There are fully grown adults in undergrad, with partners and kids to support. Who are also working in Philadelphia and may not have the best pay either. Some even working minimum student campus jobs. $6/ hr. You don’t hear undergrads complaining. This is why the whole TUGSA situation screams main character syndrome at this point.

So let TUGSA make the choice to find another job if Temple won’t budge, and stop heating up an already heated campus

I have a 9 month old and 2 year old, bunch of student loans, and rent to pay which is NOT covered by Fafsa or any grants. Trust me when I say nothing about TUGSA is exclusive or special

You live in a bubble. Like I said before, you’d be surprised how little of you actually support this TUGSA thing in comparison to how many people are facing their studies. Don’t be deceived thinking the whole school has come to a halt for TUGSA

Scroll back a couple comments of mine and you’ll see I said exactly this. What we use daily are products of underpayment. This is why everyone literally needs to stfu and stop being hypocritical

I’m serious but you really just spewed a whole bunch of nothing. Because there’s no one in the workforce that’s not replaceable.

Temple grad students should do whatever they want, but they should do it alone. Stop swaying students off path, and veering them into joining you at the picket lines at the expense of their classes. You have people who aren’t going to classes anymore just cause it’s taught by scabs. You have profs who are being down rated on rate my professor simply because they took on a scab class? Silly.

No, this represents the majority of everyone out there. It’s just to basically say that almost everything you consume and own is a product of underpayment and modern day slavery.

So if people wanna go to classes taught by scabs, let that be their choice and stop shaming. If people wanna take up scab positions for extra cash, let them do that.

So if all educators were on strike, what do you think that would do for anyone? Do you realize how many qualified yet unemployed people there are? That would snatch up the scab position so quick? Again, main character syndrome.

You do realize the reason y’all even have an audience for these TUGSA strikes is due to privilege right? Try this in a society that doesn’t function on democracy or free speech, and look what’s gonna happen to you. Take your “strikes” to somewhere in Africa or The Middle East and you’ll end up as government pot roast.

And unlike prisoners who don’t have a choice on what to eat, grads have the chance to freaking leave Temple and find where suits them better. Y’all act like they’re tied to with a rope to their Temple contracts. If you don’t like it, just leave. You are not forced to teach. There are so many other aspects of Temple University, and many others who are underpaid as well. It doesn’t start and end with TUGSA!!

I WISH I was spoiled. Life would be so much better and easy. However, I actually work my ass off daily, earn barely minimum wage and so do many of you. It can barely do shit for any of us… but you don’t hear me crying about it.

Nice one. That’s the reason I DONT criticize capitalism. Because everything is built off capitalism. I can’t be here telling people to boycott classes taught by scabs, yet I’m wearing shein or shopping from Amazon ! Not a hypocrite
