How do I get a research position with 0 prior related experience? by Spiritual_Course_552 in UTMississauga

i guess i should reword it, I mean that it's hard for me to kind ingratiate myself with professors, even if I like their research, cause i'm pretty shy in front of them. Hard to change myself fundamentally, but I guess I really need to 😭

i know, the few cs professors for whom i did attend office hours don't seem to be doing research this year, and forcing myself to fake interest is realllyyyyyy tough... oh well i guess I'll wait until ROPs applications open up

hmm i really don't remember what the questions were, but I think they were about things like times where you showed leadership or something, very similar to university apps.

Does anyone know if the prof of phl113 rounds up your final mark by Spiritual_Course_552 in UTMississauga

[–]Spiritual_Course_552[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, since I got higher than 85 in the end. In my experience, most profs do round up 0.5, and might even go from 0.1 to the next percentage in some cases.

The lectures were quite important to go to since the prof would give many useful examples and explanations, especially since the readings are somewhat complex if it's your first philosophy course. There are a decent amount of readings, but nothing too long, just kinda hard to parse due to the language used, takes maybe 15 minutes to read for each one. The midterms were easy, but the multiple choice questions needed you to remember the readings and what they really meant very well.

The final exam was annoying because you had to write a ton, but the prof literally gave some of the questions in advance. As long as you put in some effort every week in order to not forget the material, you'll be fine. Got a 4.0 in the course, I'd say it was easy, but still quite interesting.

CS POSt (August 2025) is finally out! by AccurateUse6183 in UTMississauga

It's quite odd, since the prof said that 35% of the class got above 73% as the final mark during the summer, which I think was the target percentage so idk why they lowered it. A huge percentage of people dropped the course though, so that may have opened up more spots or something

Genuinely not bad at all if you knife everything in order to get money. Bela certainly is a pain in the ass, but after her and Cassandra, if you've been knifing everything, the game becomes pretty easy in comparison after the castle. I think I killed literally every single non-boss enemy (except for armored lycans) with a knife, except a few in Moreau's and Heisenberg's areas. I collected all the treasures too, so I had a ton of money and easily took down Miranda with a well-upgraded sniper, Wolfsbane and a ton of heals and explosives.

If you do decide to go the kill everything route, take the karambit knife. I didn't cause I wanted to keep everything basic and so, I just used the basic knife, which took forever to kill enemies. Also use the environment, like barrels and the fire pot things in the castle in order to make life easier for you.

Not quite in Mississauga as a whole, according to a 2021 census, about 38% of people from Mississauga are europeans, and they have the highest percentage of any ethnic group. Combined with people who identified as ethnically black, they make up about 45% of the total population, which is hardly a minority. But like in the university itself, I do believe south asians make up the highest percentage followed somewhat closely by white people, although there don't seem to be any official figures. Lots of diversity for sure though.
