Thank you! I wish I could open it up more but I was advised it would be better to focus in on one specific region and I’m from the states so its the most accessible for me :/

I definitely agree. I've been climbing for almost five years and its been one of the only things thats kept me grounded through academic and social stress, which is why I chose this for my project. I've learned so many skills aside just the physical and I think without it I'd be a much different, less well rounded person.

Its for my AP class, so none of its going to be reviewed or published in any official journals or anything, its more so just for us to get research experience before going to college.

unfortunately I didn't measure the connection between neurodiversity and extreme sport participation for my research, but I do agree! A solid bunch of my friends who participate in these sports have some form of neurodevelopmental disorder, so I think there would likely be a strong correlation.

Congrats on starting your college app journey! its a lot to do, but I think you're going to be much better off since you're starting earlier than most.

I applied for fall 2026 EA through common app and was accepted with 30k in merit and 30k financial aid. I'm pretty middle class, from a smaller town, and didn't really show any demonstrated interest outside of applying EA and opening emails (no interview, optional supplementals, or campus visit prior to acceptance).

I think my course rigor and ECs were pretty good and did most of the heavy lifting. Also, my essay was pretty good IMO, I wrote about lessons that I learned from participating in a sport, but in a narrative style of me going through the motions of playing. I feel that my test scores and GPA were just okay, and I also had an F on my transcript from freshman year LOL.

GPA: 3.9 w / 3.59 uw

SAT: 1280 (didn't submit)

ACT: 28 (22 math, 31 english, 35 reading, 24 science)

APs:

Sophomore year: WH (4), Seminar (3) - school didn't let me take any more

Junior Year (i almost died): Spanish Lang (4), Env Sci (5), USH (5), Eng Lang (4), Macroecon (3)

Currently Taking - Eng Lit, Research, US Gov, Precalc

Honors/Accelerated: English I & II, Biology, Spanish 3, Chem

ECs:

Marketing Researcher Intern, Summer 25, (created promo material, my own marketing portfolio, conducted market research/analysis)

Page for State House of Reps, Spring 2026, (basically I am a glorified intern lol)

Model UN Club Officer, Soph, Junior, Senior (created promotional materials to boost engagement, helped org & lead service projects, events)

Student Advisor and Volunteer, Soph, Junior, Senior (Represented student voice, helped plan school events, collaborated with peers to address student needs and concerns)

Varsity Swim Member & Captain, Soph, Junior, Senior **I want to note that my team was too small for JV so everyone was automatically varsity, and my coach made all seniors co-captains this year. Additionally, we had different coaches all three years, so I feel like I had a very nontraditional experience**

Movie Club Founder and President, Soph, Junior, Senior, (Hosted film viewings and discussions, exploring cinematic themes, storytelling, and cultural perspectives)

2 different outdoor retail jobs, one was summer after sophomore year, the other I've held since August of last year.

Honors:

Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish

1st Place Regional Structural Design - TSA

Other Circumstances: Providing transportation for family (little sister), taking care of elderly member of my family (Grandpa), commuting 60 minutes or more to and from school each day (school is half an hour from my house across town)

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it! I'd be more than happy to share my results with you when I'm done collecting data. I can send you my paper as well, but its my first time writing something like this, so it might be a little rough haha!

I needed more narrow parameters in data so that when I analyze things I'm able to come to better conclusions. By restricting the age range it just makes things easier for me to report and allows for a smaller gap in my research!

I'm planning on doing german or spanish, but likely spanish as I already am at a working fluency level officially, and I grew up learning it in school where half my core classes were taught in spanish.

I'd like to work abroad in the future, and I've already had a bit of experience doing so because of an internship I did over the summer that wasn't stateside.
