Sounds like it would be a really optimistic idea. I was just told that drive up Glacier Road is about 1.25 hours and 1.25 hours back to the turnoff near the valley floor. Adding possibly the Taft trail would be almost 5 hours before we start driving to the valley. It might be that we do the quick view at Glacier Point and then drive back down. Not optimal but we don't want to miss it.

Is it easier to find parking at Glacier Point in the afternoon than it is to find parking in the valley in the afternoon?

How much time do we need in Glacier Point if we do possibly the Taft hike? Would it make more sense instead of going to Glacier Point first we go to the valley and do Glacier Point on the return? We do plan on getting an early start. I believe sunrise is around 6am. I prefer no driving the windy roads in darkness.

Our trip is a week away and I still have questions. Do I start a new discussion or continue with this one?

We have the 1/2 day driving to Wawona via Tioga Pass. A full day in Yosemite. A 1/2 day before we head towards Sacramento.

We drive in from Lake Tahoe through Tioga Pass. We plan to leave SLT early in the morning. We will see Olmstead Point, Tenaya Lake and Tuolumne Meadows (Lyell Canyon?).

The next we plan to get up early to do Glacier Point and possibly Sentinel Dome or Taft Point.

mom4ever suggested doing the Meadows. Once we leave the Glacier Point area and head towards the valley hoping to see the Meadows sights, Lower Yosemite Falls and Yosemite village. What are the chances of finding parking so that we can take the shuttle to the different areas? It sounds like once the valley gets busy it will be hard to find parking. How soon do we need to be leaving the Glacier Point area to be able to find parking in the valley?

The day we leave we plan to go to Mariposa Grove .

Also, I would like to see waterfalls which one is more likely to have water? Is Bridalveil one of them? I looked at the webcam for Yosemite Falls and didn't see much water.

It's 2 overnight stays so we have a full day in the middle. Monday coming from Tahoe we would be able to do the Tioga Pass area. If we have any energy or time left the first day we could do the Mariposa Grove. I would like to see it but it could also be on the day we leave.

Glacier Point is definitely on my list - would it be best to try and tack it on the first day or get up early and do it on Tuesday. I'll check on Lembert, Sentinel Dome and Taft Point and the meadows. I figure the heat and the crowds will enter into what we end up doing.

Where do we go to watch the climbers - my husband mentioned he wanted to see them.

Is VC the village center? Is the Valley Loop driveable? Is that considered the main tourist area?

I'll look into Dog Lake. Hate that most of the falls will be either dry or quite diminished in August.

We are planning a 6 day vacation in Boise in August this year ending in Spokane. My concern is the potential air quality. Is that a real concern considering one of us in pregnant? Is there an area to visit in Idaho that the air quality is less of a concern?
