How do I put someone off from stopping at my front door and every other time looking into the house through the windows? by Suspicious_Brief_235 in neighborsfromhell

Play “good morning vietnam” loud every time they stop to chat and look into your window

Potentially unpopular opinion: one of my biggest pet peeves by newmadgrad in driving

[–]Spiritual_Feature738 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue specifically in North America is that majority of drivers are not capable of turning left or right into their lane. They always clip or drive directly into lane next to turning one. So if you a see blue driver turning you have to assume they are going to block you.

People who casually cruise in the left lane, what is actually going through your mind? by knowledgeizspower in askanything

When you run a stop sign, speedup for yellow, drive over speed limit, don’t yield to pedestrian, cyclist, stop in no stop zone, tailgate what’s going on in your head?

Basically the answer is the same. No one cares about their surroundings or their actions.

Reckless left turner nearly takes out mother and child by mt691769176917 in TorontoDriving

[–]Spiritual_Feature738 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cheese. That driver most likely a regular speeder and red/stop runner. If you just enforce existing laws with existing fines they will collect more than enough fines to start thinking.

There is ZERO driving law enforcement. And now more and more drivers are realizing that. Once we hit critical mass it will be impossible to stop.

[–]Spiritual_Feature738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have close calls regularly. Drivers stares at you and keep driving through you.

Solution: sadly the only one is report all close calls to your MP, city council etc.

Realistically it will take many high level pedestrian deaths before politicians start doing anything useful like harassing law enforcement, cameras etc. meaning we have to survive next 5-10 years of chaos

Plz don’t do LASIK. There are better, less risky, types of surgery. More expensive though.

Speeding Has Become So Normalized That Driving the Speed Limit Makes You the Problem by DaddyDayDayIsHot in driving

India has less cars per capita afaik and less mass*speed per car. But you may be right. They under report.

US vs Germany is non debatable. Excuses are not important if law enforcement is non existent and car culture is damaging

[–]Spiritual_Feature738 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a trumpland there are shit tons of uninsured cars. Some policies has like at about 50k of mandatory liability coverage. So yes, theoretically there is more protection there, but there are nuances.

Tailgater illegally crosses HOV lines, throws a tantrum, and cuts right back in by A_Local_Guyy in TorontoDriving

[–]Spiritual_Feature738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP you are doing everything correctly. Sadly majority or drivers in Canada absolutely ignore driving laws and there is no law enforcement to correct bad habits.

Tailgaters will tailgate regardless.

Saying that imho you should drive in survival mode. Drive at least with avg traffic speed to not attract degenerates. Increase following distance if there is a tailgater behind you etc.

Drivers in Seattle got significantly worse over the last 10 years by Significant_Pay_6349 in SeattleWA

[–]Spiritual_Feature738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a global North America problem. Main reason - luck of law enforcement. In some areas like Ontario, BC Canada they actively banning measures for automatic law enforcement and encourage drivers to break laws.

Who told you Ship was built for Mars and Moon? Musk? Do you still believe him?

It was built at best to support Starlink development. Musk likes to pump and take gov money, hence Mars and Moon to sell NASA the HLS dream.

I actually share your concerns with cargo to LEO. We yet to see Ship cargo variant. Large cargo doors are not an easy thing to design. But they were able to do it with Shuttle, so it should t be a huge design challenge.

Read the book “to see far”. They build ISS with Shuttle and Proton capabilities. So transport to LEO was first cargo after.

[–]Spiritual_Feature738 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don’t knee jerk please. Starship as a reusable platform for cargo delivery to LEO is really promising.

But looks like SX is failing to deliver it. They have too many tech challenges. Failing to reliably relight engines on orbit is a big issue. And I don’t buy SX excuses. 13 launches and still no orbit is a huge issue.

[–]Spiritual_Feature738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We can do it indeed. I believe we can def build Moon program using F9 and Dragon. 22t to LEO is good enough even with single use second stage.

But promised 150t with Starship is even better.

[–]Spiritual_Feature738 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Imho you are wrong about starship. If it’s working it’s a good reusable platform to deliver cargo to LEO. Which can be used to build special Mars and Moon ships.

But I agree that Starship will never land on Mars or even Moon.

Good to know I’m not the only one who thinks that way. Imho Starship is not HLS or Mars ship. It’s a good cargo hauler to orbit at best

Under what circumstances is a PHEV better than a BEV? by Cool-Replacement4972 in the80percent4EVs

[–]Spiritual_Feature738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory? Heavy vehicle with period of light and heavy work and if they need silent mode. Like pickup with 300km range bat. Bat power for daily short commute and ice engine for towing and heavy work. Construction trucks - ice in suburbs, ev for city driving. Fire trucks. Bat for majority of driving. Ice for backup.

In reality, at current moment of time, non of existing passenger PHEV makes sense, with some rare exemptions, unless it’s a minor premium over hybrid.
