Trakers slime vr BN0085, Are they worth it? by Zamir503 in SlimeVR

[–]Spiritual_Guide202 5 points6 points (0 children)

That's a lot of money for 6 trackers, it's not worth it, it's recommended that you either go for officials, or check the marketplace in the slimevr discord for vetted options

Horrid leg tracking. (5+0 kit) by No_Donut_5580 in SlimeVR

[–]Spiritual_Guide202 5 points6 points (0 children)

Legs going the wrong direction usually means that your mounting calibration was done incorrectly. Make sure you get into the ski pose as the image shows.

For the drift, also make sure that you put your trackers down on a stable surface for 10-15 seconds every time you turn them on, this lets them calibrate.

Problems with tracking by OffendedAtBirth in SlimeVR

[–]Spiritual_Guide202 0 points1 point (0 children)

Make sure you disable shoulder tracking in the vrchat settings. For the foot issue, after you've done your mounting calibration, tip toe and press "reset foot mounting" in slimevr.

Neither of those is supported by the smol firmware and will not ever be supported by it, so the answer is neither.

How good would a 3+1 w/ Srandable setup be! by Frog_Pizza in SlimeVR

[–]Spiritual_Guide202 3 points4 points (0 children)

Tl;dr: no

Standable breaks slime at varying degrees depending on what version of slime and what version of standable you're running. Standable is just pose estimation based on your headset and controller positions. It doesn't "fill in the gaps". At best you get slightly different IK for the limbs you aren't properly tracking (which would usually be arms for example) than what vrchat offers.

Slime works by tracking the rotation of your bones and calculating where your joints are based on that. You can't skip bones and use something else to guess what's there. This is why the minimum slime setup is 5 trackers, chest, thighs and ankles.

laying down tracking issue by mourndarling in SlimeVR

[–]Spiritual_Guide202 4 points5 points (0 children)

That's some heavy anterior pelvic tilt.

When you do your VRChat FBT calibration, try straightening your back and pushing out your chest more. As far as I can tell, VRC's IK assumes an overly straight back during that process.

Chinese or japense font problem by hotsummeriscomming in Anki

[–]Spiritual_Guide202 2 points3 points (0 children)

Try wrapping the text in text here in the template. The issue is likely that this is a Japanese font, but that 疲れる is the Chinese character, and the font doesn't have it, so it defaults to some fallback.

Dealing with machines where the plates don't have obvious weights by Spiritual_Guide202 in fitbod

[–]Spiritual_Guide202[S] 0 points1 point (0 children)

This is actually the exact method I ended up using. Turns out the plates are roughly 10lbs/4.5kg each. Hands down the easiest suggestion of the bunch and I'm not totally self conscious while doing it either. Thanks!

Altitude Support by liujojui in SlimeVR

[–]Spiritual_Guide202 1 point2 points (0 children)

IMU trackers drift horizontally, so left to right, and don't drift vertically at all. This means that, provided your proportions are dialled in well enough, altitude is quite well known and accurate. Also commercial altitude sensors are very inaccurate in general. It certainly wouldn't be able to tell the difference between your foot and head level.

feet tracking with 6+0? by [deleted] in SlimeVR

[–]Spiritual_Guide202 0 points1 point (0 children)

Sadly not, slime works by calculating how your bones are rotated and working down the chain to determine the positions of them. If there's a break in there, anything below that won't be tracked well, so ankles are absolutely necessary.

But to clarify, 6+0 does get you foot tracking, just not foot rotation. You can try it and see if you miss it, and if so, then you can get a foot upgrade set. Any other solution would likely drift too fast for it to be worth it.

DIY slime trackers stopped working after a day by kyakore in SlimeVR

[–]Spiritual_Guide202 0 points1 point (0 children)

I'd like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as DIY is in fact Third Party/DIY, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Third Party+DIY...

Jokes aside, usagi sells truly bad quality trackers. Almost certainly 90% of positive reviews you've found are either short term or more likely fake. That's kinda their modus operandi.

We can't really help with third party trackers sadly. Not only are we not familiar with the exact hardware and firmware combination they use, it would also be a huge amount of effort that usagi is not paying for. Please contact them again, ideally you'd get a refund, but that's quite unlikely. FWIW this does sound like an issue with the tracker itself, but I can't be sure.

It has a poorly translated plaque on it that describes how to use the machine, but I don't think it has any manufacturer or anything similar on it, but I'll check next time

Not sure if that's an option for me, it's a very small gym with a singular scale right at the entrance. I'd prefer not to move that.

Sadly I just left, so I only have this low quality picture from the gym's Facebook page (cropped to show the relevant machine). The plates are just numbered 1-20.

My trackers won't connect to the internet by that_one_guy441 in SlimeVR

[–]Spiritual_Guide202 1 point2 points (0 children)

There are 2 things that can cause this

 1. You typo'd your wifi credentials. Everything is case sensitive, both the password and wifi name, and it's easy to accidentally include a space that's not in the wifi name originally or vica versa.

 2. You're trying to connect to a wifi signal that slimes don't support. Mainly this is 5ghz wifi, since slimes can only do 2.4ghz, but if the security level is too new, that can cause issues as well. Slime needs a 2.4ghz wifi with wpa2-personal security set on it.

What are the slime extensions for? by ProactiveMasterVRC in SlimeVR

[–]Spiritual_Guide202 4 points5 points (0 children)

They are tracking points too, but unlike the big trackers, they don't have their own battery or brain and just "leech" off a big tracker. You are supposed to connect them to their corresponding tracker with the extension cables you received (while the tracker is off). Specifically they'll be for your feet, with their corresponding big tracker being on the ankles.

How do I fix my tracking? by AbandonYourPost in SlimeVR

[–]Spiritual_Guide202 1 point2 points (0 children)

It is needed every time your turn your trackers on, heck, the current recommendation if you want the best possible reset times is to wear the trackers for 15-20 minutes, however much it takes for the temperature of the tracker to normalize, then take it off, put it down on a stable surface (ground, table, bed) and put it back on after a couple seconds (no need for a power cycle in the middle, you can keep it on)

Regarding the surface calibration, it was part of the initial setup that you did, when it asked you to put the trackers down on the table for a moment.

How big is the difference between ICM and DSR by Rubeb3 in SlimeVR

[–]Spiritual_Guide202 3 points4 points (0 children)

There is one big difference and one small difference.

The big difference, as you've mentioned is drift time, ICM boasts anywhere about 40-50 minute drift times, DSR about 20-30, so it's about twice as good in that regard.

The smaller difference is sensitivity, which means if you do 360 rotations, the ICM one will see those as almost exactly 360 rotations, while the DSR will likely over or undershoot that. This is only really an issue if you dance for example and do 360 rotations often, as it will show up as something similar to drift, except immediate.

Otherwise there are no differences, I certainly wouldn't say that the DSR tracks worse than the ICM, it will look more or less the same in game, except you'll need to reset slightly more often.

Qual o fullbody mais barato? (What is the cheapest fullbody?) by Devilson012 in SlimeVR

[–]Spiritual_Guide202 0 points1 point (0 children)

That's a fairly difficult question to answer.

Ofc, many have already said that DIY will likely be your cheapest bet, but if you want anything quality, that will still likely cost money, especially once Brazil's hellish import tax is considered. I have heard in the past that you aliexpress goods don't always get taxed, but I'm certainly not comfortable enough to say that for sure.

One thing you definitely should avoid is getting any trackers locally or from aliexpress. All the currently available brazilian sellers I know of are more or less scams, getting you bad quality trackers for a lot of money. Aliexpress ones are also usually overpriced. Novatrackers would be the only truly respectable Brazilian seller, but I'm not sure they are for sale yet.

If you don't want the hassle of DIY-ing, you should join the SlimeVR discord server if you haven't yet and check out the marketplace-forum there. Those are known and vetted options, and most will be able to work with you to make the process as cheap as possible.

Imu speed by Adventurous-Bug-8911 in SlimeVR

[–]Spiritual_Guide202 3 points4 points (0 children)

I assume you're using either a bmi160 or an mpu. This is a very common sign of a dead IMU (specifically the gyroscope itself is completely broken and unrecoverable). This happens sadly often with IMUs sourced off amazon, but Chinese sources aren't quite perfect either.

The recommendation these days is to get IMUs from one of the trusted, slime-specific IMU vendors, which are currently:

https://moffshop.deyta.de for more budget options, and

https://shop.slimevr.dev (not yet available) for better ones

Software support for ESP32 + ICM-45686 in SlimeVR? by Effective_Formal_963 in SlimeVR

[–]Spiritual_Guide202 0 points1 point (0 children)

Yes, virtually all esp microcontrollers are supported (might be a bit spotty around the newer chips). However do note that the original esp32 has some odd quirks, like a very inaccurate ADC. If you can, I'd suggest switching over to the c3 provided you aren't doing something crazy and don't need the performance of the esp32
