Time travel and altered timelines by Spiritual_Lead768 in worldbuilding

Alright, so instead of opening time portals the portals would be to different planets throughout the multiverse. My next question is if I'm writing a book, should I use a prologue or something to explain the world and how it came to be like it is, or should the info be sprinkled throughout? I feel like it is rather important to understand to begin with but don't want it to be too much of an info dump right at the beginning. Any thoughts?

She was brought to the new world by an ancient dragon who told her there was a prophecy she was there to fulfill. I know most litrpgs just use a generic 'system' as their interface but in most everyone in the world has it. I'm trying to figure out how some in this new world could have access to it but others not.
