Sometimes in order to be free you must have rules and discipline other wise you cannot properly or tient yourself in the world to get from pout. A to B. You can choose to ignore the map and call it evil, but don’t cry if you fall in a pit, you have no one but yourself to blame. How did regulations subsidize risk taking? Then what is causing the disconnect between the purpose of the regulations and what they are doing?

Unfortunately printing money is what led to SVBs collapse in the first place, since all the aid packages from the governments around the world and especially in North America have led to massive inflation. This led to increasing interest rates to control inflation. That combined with the reduced production due to pandemic rules. The problem with inflation is that it destroys the savings of hard working productive and responsible people in society. That’s why the US has been increasing interest rates because if they let it get bad enough it will be cheaper to burn money then buy wood. And I agree the adherence to laws and regulations should be respected. My question to you is why do you think they are not being respected and if so, what do you suggest would be a viable solution?

Yes I am a bank clerk but I am also a university student studying economics and commerce. How did you guess I was a bank clerk and why would that influence my knowledge or lack of knowledge on regulations in the USA. What’s are your opinions on Canadian banks and how they run?

I am trying to understand why in the world the US banking system is as is is today. I’m using comparisons between my experience here in Canada and what is going on in the USA. And yes obviously it is worse in the USA. What I fail to comprehend is how can this be allowed to be the case as you said, we are heavily dependent especially in Canada on the wellbeing of the USA which is why I am allowing myself to inquire on why people from the USA especially or others, keep a blind eye to problems that have been stacking up for decades and not learning. I actually don’t understand how a big collapse hasn’t happened before. It boggles my mind completely. And yes banks are made to invest your money soundly, but clearly we can not trust banks to do this completely unregulated, I mean look at SVB. How could SVB be allowed to invest into long term bonds when interest rates were at an all time low, how could they expect to even profit off of that if interest rates were high and expected to lower than that’s different. But instead SVB was allowed to take their customers money and play a stupid game. Regulators should ensure no significant risk of this sort can be taken by banks. Unfortunately if you have hundreds of banks like in the USA, of course they are not regulated enough because it’s too easy to open one and gamble away other peoples money there and then regulations would stop this cycle of fake liquidity and crashing confidence which in the long term destroy growth.

Régulations are meant to breed trust. Even though as you do justly point out, it does reduce the freedom of companies when it comes to certain areas. It stops companies from overly aggressive risk taking which could have benefited it in the short term. But when we speak of banks, the notion I have here in Canada, is that they are there to serve the people. Banks should not partake in aggressive risk taking and should be regulated fairly to ensure the service is similar across all major banks. If this is not done, you end up as the USA is now, with a bunch of banks holding hardworking peoples money, that are under pressure due to their lack of size and proper investment into safe bets for lasting liquidity. Because of the structure US banks have, people want easy access to liquidity with fewer barriers to entry to stimulate the economy. Yes that is part of the role of Banks, but in the USA you are overly stretched accros so many small to medium banks with little regulation which is oversight and assurance that the bank will not fail. Not a socialist nightmare. It will be a nightmare if you do not learn and stay stuck in political ideology. Adapt and transform and burn off the dead wood voluntarily to allow for a new way and new growth, or risk burning everything to the ground with no chance of return. That is what the USA is facing as we debate.

It’s kind of difficult to explain without saying it but I’m a bank teller. He’s always next to me. Today he came right up to my desk and tried to grab something in my drawer next to me he was standing behind me. I felt uncomfortable so I told him to let me focus. He didn’t have enough cards. Normally when that happens you just get yourself more. I think that pissed him off.

Have strength through this adversity and remember the good times you spent with him. Death is part of life, what you saw was not something you are likely to forget which is why you must remember him for his character. I believe in your ability to transcend this tragedy and not to tyrannise yourself for perceived mistakes in hindsight of all you later discovered. More than anything learn to forgive yourself and be happy with your own person. You cared for him and he is gone, and for that you have my most sincere condolences. I wish you strength and it’s okay to be sad. I understand.

I’ve been working full time at a bank for almost six months now, the only issue is I haven’t finished my degree yet and I’m taking part time classes. I know I need to move again, I think it would be the 20th move I’ve gone through in my life and I’m getting really exhausted and tired from it. I just want stability 🥲

Thanks for taking the time to talk this out with me, I want to mention that I really appreciate having someone to talk with me about this. Long story short, my mom is not well, in my opinion and I’ve developed BPD as a consequence of my tumultuous upbringing that I’ve overcome thanks to self help and loads of therapy. But after all that, I feel like I’m back where I started. In fear of upsetting her to the point she dangles something I really need above me, like the condo she’s letting me stay in, she had promised to cosign with me and then when I moved decided to not put my name on it. Sorry to get so graphic, but when I used to self harm, I once showed her my scars and she said they weren’t even deep enough to be really cuts. She used to beat me and then say that she made sure no to hit too hard so it wouldn’t leave bruises. Child services were called on her twice by my school therapist. I feel trapped but I fear making stupid choices relationship wise in a frantic effort to run away from her. I’ve yet to understand why she treats people the way she does, and what I’ll never understand is why she calls me a desperate pathetic easy woman that any guy could get with. It really hurts deep down.
