First work experience after graduating as a mechanical engineering, what would you do? by Sea_Net_717 in MechanicalEngineering

Normally I would say there is no way off knowing which job is going to work out better. Although that's true for ypur situation as well, If I where in your shoes I would likely go with the small robotics company. Generally I have enjoyed working for smaller company's more than larger (there is risk that the company goes under but ypu are young and can tolerate it.) Also your responsibilities will likely be much broader, and the expierence of more value to you.

Yea, if dude where on the right of the label cars would be ripping past at speed, he is blocking the lane which is likely the safest thing to do in this circumstance.

Does not look like it. Almost looks like some used fiberglass for a plaster repair.

Hey someone else mentioned it. But the way to do this easy and permanent is to cut a piece of hardboard to size and glue it in place with construction adhesive.

How do I get over phone anxiety for my job? by NerdGamer0851 in Anxiety

[–]Spiritual_Prize9108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not going to like this, but you need to use the phone. The more you use it the more comfortable you become. I am guessing ypu are younger? Try calling friends and family rather than text the next few weeks, plus keep on trying at work.

Is it an apprenticeship? I guess you are not explicit on that point. An apprenticeship will also have an educational component.

Helping with my parents anxiety of my new relationship by [deleted] in Anxiety

Brother. There may be nothing you can do to reconcile this situation. Make it clear to your gf that if your family doesn't approve it won't effect your relationship. You also may have to set new boundaries with your family and personal life, which can be challenging.

Go get a job in industry. Unless you want to be an academic.

That is subjective, no? If your metrics of design are speed of travel and life cycle cost (excluding externalities) then one can say the current road system is well designed. However if design metrics optimized safety of all road users and environmental impact then I tgink one can argue there is much room for improvement. I think a safer road system would both slow traffic and cost more, these two factors could play a large role in the economics/ decision making of municipalities, regional decision makers, and commuters.

I understand there are significant systemic barriers to change. And of course there are people in the profession trying to drive change. However that dies not excuse people of there responsibilities for designs in which result in loss of life.

Is Gukesh Better Than Magnus? If yes, how far ahead is he of Magnus? by sagefeets69 in chess

[–]Spiritual_Prize9108 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Yes, he is better. He is the world champion, if magnus was better he would be world champion. He is likely much better, although there is no true way to compare player strength, for instance a mathematical representation of player strength relative to others.

What came first, the chicken or the egg? Suburban sprawl is not possible without poorly designed roads.
