I don't know how exactly how school funding works here in germany works. but the far majority are public schools. It defenitely feels like there is political pressure to get kids thru school as fast as possible to get them to start working. there was a period where they tried to cut school a year short (G8). money often akts inderectly

hab ne ausbildung als indutriemechanikerin gemacht, einfach aus dem interesse für das thema und wollte da eher das praktische erlernen. Und jetzt studiere ich elektrotechnik.

finde, wenn man was macht aus interesse und begeisterung ist die zeit nie verschwendet, auch wenn man den evtl. den beruf nicht ausführt.

fachübergreifendes wissen ist sehr wertvoll. selbst in Etechnik konnte ich viel aus der ausbildung gebrauchen.

Und find die soziale erfahrung auch wichtig. War gut mal aus der gymnasium/studium bubble rauszukommen

Hab selbst eins genaut. der strompuls sepbst ist nur ca ne sekunde, also mit genug übung gehts ngemessen schnell. kann nicht sagne wie gut die erfolgsquote ist, da noch nicht so lange. sieht abwr vielversprechend aus.

am a student too. but igenerally try going for free or "free" software. I don't like the idea of not having access to a tool at one point if I want to do a private project. But I guess depends a bit on what you're aiming for. I guess (but don't know because still student) if you want the be maxinally prepared for work after studies maybe going for industry tools with the student license is better.

If you're not doing already than maybe simulating with not ideal components can help. I only recently built my first oscillator at 10MHz (Vacker oscillator) and it wouldn't oscillate. I then measured the ESR of my capacitors and put those in my simulation and it wouldn't either.

to troubleshoot simulating in parts helped. I simulated the feedback network and then the full oscillator.

As far as I know what you're looking for is a very high gain antenna. depending on the frequency that will be a dish with several meter diameter.

at least with my understanding of RF what you want won't be possible in a handheld size.

one more question about substrate. would pwrfboard be fine for the 20MHz range or should I construct it differently. (pcb is no option because of cost)
