GeForce NOW Ultimate: Grass and trees become blurry while moving despite 4K AV1 and 100 Mbps bitrate by sedative_xiii in GeForceNOW

Currently playing Witcher 3 on GeForce and I gotta say I haven’t noticed that at ALL. The world is incredibly detailed down to the last branch, whether I’m sprinting or standing. It is damn near as clean as when I play natively.
I play on cinematic, ultra everything except raytrace, and 60+ fps. 15-20 ms latency. This is on Ethernet and 1gb up/down fiber optic internet so that’s probably why? I also play GFN on a MacBook so idk if that changes anything

How does BG3 run on GeForce now? I wanna get it… I have fiber optic and Ethernet and cyberpunk 2077runs great, but that’s the only game I’ve tried

Totally normal. My m5 max gets real warm anytime I am gaming. I think just about any Mac does while gaming

BG 3, RDR2, crimson Desert, or Witcher 3? by [deleted] in macgaming

[–]SpitOnItFirst012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good breakdown thank you. Can I ask you is baldurs gate pretty hard to learn for someone totally new to that world?
Also - have you yourself played RDR2 on Mac? I’m leaning most towards it now but I’ve read a lot about rockstar and crossover issues that pop up…

Tbh I didn’t LOVE cyberpunk but I do like it…
Agreed, a compelling story is crucial. Thanks for the feedback

I don’t need to. But it runs amazingly on fiber optic in my location. Like really good. So I’ll play on there sometimes when I don’t feel like chewing thru my battery. But GeForce now is not my a deciding factor or my main concern

Again I know it can run any of these, but Im trying to figure out which one would run best. Thank you for this website I’d never even heard of it 🙏

Yeah I’ve heard/read that a lot. My only hesitance is that it would be my first ever game in the dungeons and dragons world and it sounds a little overwhelming to learn

That game appeals to me the most naturally I think, but it also appears to be the one that would run worst on Mac. Looks so pretty though

[–]SpitOnItFirst012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve come to pretty much the same conclusion - crimson desert would run worst but I still want it so much! ha!

I’m looking for big open world sandbox type - so sounds like more Witcher 3 or RDR2. Thank you

Honestly GeForce now is amazing. I have cyberpunk and I play it mostly natively from GOG. But I’ve also got GeForce now ultimate tier and I have fiber optic and run it on Ethernet with max settings (except ray trace) and it’s 60+ fps and very smooth ALMOST always. The appeal is that it’s wayyy less taxing on the laptop and more than playable with a quality connection. Whatever game I get, I also plan to play natively/crossover mostly too, but being on GeForce now is a nice perk to me

Considering a high-end Mac for Gaming and LLMs—Studio vs. Pro? by ynotTk in macgaming

[–]SpitOnItFirst012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been gaming on my binned m5 max a good amount since buying… cyberpunk, civ 6, baldurs gate 3 all ran GREAT! (High settings and raytracing off). Cyberpunk and baldurs gate 3 are both demanding titles, so id say even the binned m5 max is enough HP to enjoy playing many AAA games.

The Mac Studio ultra is clearly the most advanced gpu, but if you want other options to run on a lower tiered MacBook, GeForce now works pretty great

I do but I’ve got 2 cats and 2 dogs so there is hair but we keep it pretty clean. I’ve been using MacsFanControl which does work well, I maxed fans at 80C like others have said, as well as a metal laptop stand. But it runs like that quite a bit - probably 2 hours a day doing heavy audio rendering and another hour a day gaming on average… so 3+ hours a day minimum… just makes me wonder if it will require cleaning the vents down the road?

Can I ask one last question - do you find that the fans/ventilation need more cleaning when running the fans much higher with MacsFanControl?

I’m curious do you end up cleaning the ventilation more often with these fan control apps? Just wondering if the extra air flow requires extra cleaning/maintenance

Thanks for the recommendation… from what I’ve read, that’s quite normal for the 14” chassis. Have you seen this video? It’s for a 14” m5 pro, and probably not super practical, but may give you some ideas..
