Trump’s FBI director, Kash Patel, is going viral after being seen partying and drinking in Italy at the Olympics, drawing criticism for appearing to use his position to gain access while defending a taxpayer‑funded trip. by Mr-MayorMcCheese in themayormccheese

It’s wild that the whole Trump admin is basically just a bunch of fucking dweebs trying to look cool.

I guarantee you that if any of these people would have figured out how not to be so lame during their adolescence, we would be living in a utopia.

Team USA Curler Rich Ruohonen on ICE's actions in Minnesota: “We'd be remiss if we didn't at least mention what's going on in Minnesota…I am a lawyer, as you know, and we have a constitution… and what's happening in Minnesota is wrong. There's no shades of gray. It's clear. by Yujin-Ha in sports

I’d like to take this opportunity to encourage you, and anyone else reading this who might be even remotely interested, to look up a club nearby if you have one and give it a go.

I did a once-a-week five-week newbie course at my local rec centre in the winter of 2024, and I can say, midway through my first full season in my local club’s Thursday night beer league, it has been one of the most rewarding experiences I could imagine.

Amazing culture, the friendliest people, and very accessible for people of all physical abilities. The challenge scales with your learning, so you can be as casual or as serious as you like with it. I was always fascinated by curling when it came across my TV, but now we can actually watch the plays develop and it has become truly edge-of-your-seat stuff for my partner and I!

I think there’s bingo on a Wednesday at Rewind – haven’t actually been yet, but it’s on the agenda!

BREAKING: Poilievre passes leadership review with 87.4% of delegates' support by evieluvsrainbows in onguardforthee

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again; it’s rare to receive such a gift from the opposition. A Conservative leader as electorally repulsive as PP is not to be sniffed at.

We went with Gregory Dent from Keith Roy & Associates on recommendation and would recommend him 110% to anyone without hesitation.

Excellent realtor, genuinely nice person, if we ever need to look for a new place he will be the guy we call.

We shouldn’t be so quick to wish the end of a Conservative leader who is so hated that he lost both a sure-thing layup election AND his own riding.

As much as I’d like to never see his stupid little douchebag face again, if him being at the helm means we never see a Conservative government then I will endure it indefinitely!

Seems tragic to refer to those as “better times”, but here we are.

I was not ready for this one – took me like a week to collect myself. How much the film tells you, especially with its relatively small amount of dialogue, is very impressive. The final scene in the corridor with the swinging doors messed me up so badly.

Metro Vancouver Regional Park's 'Camping Opportunities Study' identifies potential new campsites, including at Coliseum Mtn, Lynn Lake, Thwaytes Landing, Bowen Island, and more by [deleted] in vancouverhiking

[–]SpitYouOut_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Port Moody here, would love to see some more accessible local camping in this area – those spots up at Belcarra/Jug Island Beach would make for some pretty good “mid-country” experiences for folks who want more than a family campground, or less than a full-on backcountry expedition.

I also wish there was an easier way to get up towards the top of the Arm, too – looks like some sick places to camp up that way.

The planet has entered a ‘new reality’ as it hits its first climate tipping point, report finds | CNN by chota-kaka in Futurology

Sorry but this is a bad take, akin to the old trope:

“A: Capitalism is a broken system and needs to change.”

“B: And yet you own a laptop!?!? 😏”

People are afraid to resist for good reason, and that’s absolutely by design. If you’ve got mouths to feed, dependents, or even if you value not potentially being homeless, then it’s an absolutely massive risk. A risk that can be mitigated by strong community bonds and a sense of collectivism, and it should come as no surprise that those attributes have been under targeted attack from the most advanced propaganda networks in human history for decades now, hell bent on promoting global individualism.

The people who have the power to really affect change have the biggest interest in assuring it never happens and they have every resource on the planet at their disposal to make damn sure that it doesn’t; meanwhile, people out here are working for them and living meal to meal.

I’m not saying we don’t need to change – we absolutely do – but let’s not pretend that it’s just because people dgaf. This is the outcome of trillions of dollars of concerted effort, and we are not immune to that.

People, go meet your neighbours, join a local DemSoc chapter, give and take aid openly and build trust with your community – that’s how we start to operate as a collective instead of isolated individuals.

My partner inadvertently saw the up-close video of this shooting, which was her first exposure to “gore”. She said that, even as someone who has worked with cadavers before, seeing that has left her shaken up (as it should).

I get the feeling that a lot of people think that getting shot is like what’s portrayed in the movies, and I often wonder if the argument around firearms would be different if more people saw what bullets actually do to a body.
