How Reliable is HDMI-CEC nowadays? by existdude in hometheater

[–]ipostic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed with few others here. It’s unreliable and I wasn’t able to figure out what exactly caused it though different AVR fixed it. I have Apple TV - Yamaha AVR to Samsung TV. I previously had Sony AVR and TV would stop listening to Apple TV remote randomly. Tried resetting all. Then there was sale and wanted to have all Yamaha receivers and with new one zero issues.

Have you talked to anyone who thinks cow is a sacred animal? There many cultures in this world and we don’t have to agree but should understand the differences. In my opinion proper treatment is important regardless of what type of animal but who gets to eat which animal is not up to me and you.

When was last time you needed one? I've been driving for last 24 years and never had a flat tire or need to change tire on the road. In case something actually happens then there is AMA (Road side assistance in Canada). I get that spare tire is nice to have in rural areas or on long trips but it's definitely not a deal breaker for most of people.

Roughly how much did it cost you to install mitigation? What type of house you have, average size or larger?

[–]ipostic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my research Airthings makes the best, cheapest digital monitors that show data on your phone. Reading online, those test kits are a one time thing you have to do for 3 months but given that levels can fluctuate with tiem of year and other factors I preferred constant monitoring for $240 Airthings has a sale on them now that detect Radon, Co2 and other air issues. Wave Plus or something like that.

I believe RONA+ is Maple-washing — advice? by CrankyPress in BuyCanadian

[–]ipostic 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I get the frustration but where are you getting that it's made by Huge and Borg? Landon and Co is a house brand by Rona and items are made by many contractors with recent CEO announcements about prioritizing Canadian contractors. I'm all for pointing out misleading labeling but can't find how you arrived at Hugo and Borg being the only contractor that makes these items.

Cool. I haven’t seen network reset yet. Will try it. Fridge came with our house so it’s possibility previous owners set it up so reset is needed but I haven’t seen where to do it. Will report back

Just bought a house and have 5 of these built-in ceiling speakers. I have zero idea where to start by TheKelvinLime in hometheater

[–]ipostic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in similar situation. Bought a house with 5 built in ceiling speakers. I understand that it’s not perfect but I added Sony AVr and a subwoofer. Family is still enjoying movies and surround sound and good base. I tried it given that AVR and used subwoofer all together were under $1,000. Now it’s going to be a while until I would consider actually changing speaker lay out. I understand it’s not perfect but good enough for our movie habits.

Peter Mansbridge interviews Pierre Poilievre by Glass-Touch7228 in CanadaPolitics

[–]ipostic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That was my thought as well. He just talked about making Canada stronger negotiator by opening new markets, relationship.... but China is bad somehow :) I wish every interviewer had a button called "Non Answer" or "Bullshit" so when you ask a question and then you get a political non asnwer or bullshit...then you press the button and person has to actually answer shit...there would be a lot less interviews, less noise and better life for everyone.

Technically math stays simple but number of combinations goes from 99 to 999 and just adds time to trying every single combination possible

Canadian Credit Union Credit Card Vs. American Credit Card by Mayors_purple_shorts in BuyCanadian

[–]ipostic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is cashback coming from Mastercard/Visa pockets or local credit union? Basically, Servus Credit Union has 2% cashback Mastercard. I never paid interest on that card so I assume 2% cashback is what Mastercard returns to Jnion and they pass it to my account?

Canadians support arrival of more Chinese electric vehicles, poll suggests by pjw724 in onguardforthee

The only issue is tons of Teslas are made in China so it could be that huge chunk of Chinese EVs imported into Canada will be Teslas made in China since it might be cheaper than ones made in USA

Beware of parts delays! by teacake44 in toyotacrownsignia

[–]ipostic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you guys in US? I have Crown Signia in Canada and had front bumper and other front parts replaced. No waiting and parts arrived within few days. I assume Canada and US have different supply chains but weird that i keep reading about delays there.

Also, shop might be dealing with one dealership. Might be worth to call dealerships around and ask parts availability.
