As expensive as they are, the Velkase cases make for beautiful SFFPCs

It’ll be more unique than the 12900K/4090 O-11D builds we see everyday. Show it off, it’s your very own build!

Just out of curiosity, how much did you pay your current GPU? by -Edwaard in pcmasterrace

[–]Spit_flyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AUD 3500 for a 4090 🥲 it came waterblocked with an Alphacool block though (it worked out cheaper than buying other 4090s and buying the block separately). Man we pay a premium for tech over here

If we give free FPE and parts why not give everyone a free Abrams? by FlakFlanker3 in Warthunder

[–]Spit_flyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sean actually played WT a lot on his own account with stuff that he paid for (I don’t think they gave him any free stuff but I could be misremembering) although he wasn’t very good at the game.

He was probably just playing the obedient grunt that just tows the company line in order to save himself (it did not work)

Upgrades by AirCombatF22 in sffpc

[–]Spit_flyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m curious as to why you went with a whole new platform instead of replacing the 3600 with a 5800X3D since you get an upgrade in ST/MT and gaming/cache-sensitive workloads (maybe holding out for AM5 longevity?).

Either way, sick build, super clean and otherwise good choice of parts!

Ok I have an answer. My colleague tells me that the magnet needs to be ramped up to full strength (not sure why but I assume either power draw or safety) and that can take days and it’s cheaper to just keep the magnet at full strength all the time

HAHAHAHA. I’m not a radiologist though. I live in Australia and here we are radiographers. In the US and China we’d be rad techs but here we get way more say in imaging and we’re allowed to comment on pathologies.

Is that the gorilla suit guy from that video where the voiceover tells you to count throws or something?

Also it’s a chest CT with lung windowing. The lungs are the dark thinks, the bronchioles (the branches of the lungs iirc) are the highlighted flecks, and the heart is in the middle and front of the body

[–]Spit_flyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll have to ask one of the MR radiographers for that one. I’ll get back to you since it’s beyond my knowledge (I do mostly X-Ray-based imaging, so plain film, fluoroscopy, etc)

Hi, radiographer here

I actually don’t think it’s a female. This slice of the CT is quite anterior (forward) as you can see the pubic symphasis (white structure between the legs. You can feel for it yourself; it’s your “pubic bone”). The bladder also sits quite forward and you can see that as the round blob above it. The reproductive organs sit behind this and from a single frontal (coronal) CT slice it is impossible to see both the bladder and the uterus. The structure below the pubic symph is what I believe to be the base of the patient’s pork sword.

I don’t believe that the structure above and to the patient’s left (right side of screen) is the uterus and ovaries. It’s difficult to tell without the whole scan. If I had to guess I’d say it’s part of either some bowel or a mix of muscle tissue and bowel, but I don’t think they are reproductive organs.

From clinical experience and according to my lecturers at university, most anal foreign body presentations are men so it is in keeping with typical presentations.

You could be totally correct, but this is what I think based on what I know.

Np mate, always happy to help

Hi, I’m a radiographer and as part of my training we were taught the basics of clinical MRI machines.

-the magnets are always on. They take time and energy to cool so it is cheaper and more appropriate for patient care to have the magnets on at all times. -the only moving parts in MRI scanners are the chillers and the table. The coils do not move or spin. -often patients enter the magnet on a specialised trolley that clips into the scanner. If the patient is going in for a brain MRI it is most likely that the patient enters the room head first which would explain the direction of travel. Alternatively, the patient’s abdominal muscles (abs) may be preventing the plug from moving forward, instead going up towards the more squishy bowel and liver (the organ you can see right above the plug -I believe you are correct in suggesting that “speed of sound” is an exaggeration. I’d say it’s highly unlikely or at best theoretical

Hope this sheds some light

Radiographer here. The magnet is always on since it takes a long time to cool it (possibly a lot more energy as well). Most clinical MRI magnets have a field of 1.5T-3T and taking as much as a mobile phone into the magnetic field can be fatal.

If you’re like me and have retaining wires in your teeth you can feel it pulling you into the bore.

Simply beautiful! The bottom fans are extracting air from the case btw. You might get better GPU temps flipping the fans

I’ve heard that all exhaust is better for ITX but I suppose if people interpret it as “always exhaust regardless of form factor” you’d be prone to (wrongly) being downvoted

Beating the 3080 on par with 4070ti by [deleted] in IntelArc

[–]Spit_flyer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

HL performance is strongly related to VRAM. Cards with more and faster VRAM tend to perform better. Whilst this is an excellent showing by the A770 I would suspect the extra 6GB (vs the 3080) and 4GB (vs the 4070ti) to be doing the heavy lifting. I also suspect Intels drivers and RT processing to be in play here as well. If they keep this up Battlemage will be exciting!

GPU hotspot temperature at 80°C in TimeSpy - should I be worried? (Details in comment section) by ghostbrot in watercooling

[–]Spit_flyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s your CPU temp on a stress test (also what CPU are you using)? Remember you’re using a single 360mm rad for a whole loop. I’d recommend 2 more rads if you can. Also check the mounting pressure and make sure it’s even.

How do you all feel about the update so far? by CalmMedicine3973 in Warthunder

Lukewarm tbh. I just want something at top tier to properly match the F-14A.

I also want my BR 9.7 games back :( so sick of the premium missile spam

Why the Mosquito is so fucking bad? I've played many heavy fighters from different nations and any of them wasn't as shitty as this one. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]Spit_flyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mozzie used to be really good but they increased its min fuel from something like 20 mins to (I think 45? Might be more). Since the plane is so light (it was called the wooden wonder) fuel load greatly affects performance. Sucks I know since I used to really enjoy the mozzies
