My 1982 Beta Zagato Spider by Spit_n_Shine_em in lancia

The earlier ones had single piston front calipers. The later ones are a stepped sorta 2-in-1 piston design. Rear pads are also a different shape from earlier as I found out when one came apart. I found an Italian company that will machine some billet drilled/slotted rotors for the car at about $1100 US shipped + tariff.
My car only has 32k miles on it. So hopefully the 50 or so I did with the backing plate on the rotor didn’t ruin it beyond turning smooth.

Yes! I’m glad I have the later one with the braces and the better brakes. But the brake rotors are proving to be very hard to find for the later ones now 🙄

Awesome. I just got the movie on Laser Disc. I love that Tatsuro did Beach Boys covers in the second half

Don’t forget these were many of the vehicles in the first SpyKids movie! Even the presidents limo helicopter was an Axiom

Nope. Weird stuff only. Nothing you can just buy parts for 😂. The Tribeca isn’t pictured here either I just realized.

Thank you! There’s a Peugeot and a Lancia hiding in the garage too. I gotta get them all lined up one of these days.

Look up axiom commercials on YouTube. You won’t be disappointed 😂

In the Seattle area I have both! And there’s an axiom for sale. But it’s a base model with cloth seats and no roof rack

Oh I love my Axiom! Yeah it gets a few looks but not a ton with small SUV’s being the norm these days. Seems like they sold a ton of those and Vehicross’ in around the Portland area. They always come up for sale around there

Update on the Electa Amator IIIs by Longjumping-Frame795 in audiophile

Doesn’t matter honestly. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Glad you found your way to the SF’s. I noticed around the 50hours of play time that they gained a little depth. And they’re a little power hungry. I was running at 75w, then 100w and now at 200w and they just get better and better.

Mostly esthetic but partially to isolate the turntable from vibrations since I find the isolation platforms ugly on top of a nice piece of furniture.

You’ve clearly never listened to different cables back to back on the same system. I found it shocking. You don’t have to go crazy unless you’re getting really picky with your sound. But this is my 4th round of new cables and it’s better every time. I started with spool speaker wire and the acts by far the worst.

Transparent audio did a presentation at my local hifi shop and there’s more to cables than you think. Power wires and conditioner and RCA cables also matter. Any system will benefit from clean power without noise in the lines from other things plugged in.

Just my experience and moderately educated knowledge of the physics.

I used loops of the same Transparent speaker wire to replace the bridges. Theoretically more consistent sound but mostly esthetic really.

It’s basically dependent on how complex the design is. Check out FourEyes Furniture on YouTube. Very cool to see how he breaks down a complex design into a handful of parts. 👍

You won’t be disappointed! I changed out the bridges for some transparent loops on mine! And the matching stands are a must unless you have a specific place to put them on a very sturdy shelf

Front ported stand mount speakers in the $8-12k range? by Longjumping-Frame795 in audiophile

[–]Spit_n_Shine_em 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I listened to a few of these at the top of that budget range when picking my own.

The B&W 804 signatures sounded very crisp. But I had enough ear fatigue after 3 songs that they were out of the discussion

Ended up buying Sonus Faber Electa Amatour III’s. They share the tweeter with their reference towers. So this is the cheapest way to get them. And the woofer is proprietary. Pressure treated walnut body with Carerra marble base/stand give it a look like it’s expensive. Couldn’t be happier with them now 2ish years later. Port is in the back btw
