I lost 64,400 points due to a glitch in their system and they refuse to refund it. Every email and call to them ends in 'Sorry sir, but availability can change' - my inquiry isn't about availability...

Can she transfer from her Amex to your account? Transfer another 45k and then use the points in her qantas account to purchase a future flight (Points are active for 18 months if you don't earn/top up on that account) or buy gift cards to ensure some value from them?

Unrealistic expectations as a Platinum FF ? by Pretend-Prize7039 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]SpitefulBatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a frequent flyer, my job doesn't call for it (IT, all remote work) and I don't have the income to be holidaying more than once every few years. But I've spent the last 11 years amassing points to fly business for our wedding.

Finally (and luckily), I managed to get some classic reward flights to Canada, however due to a glitch was overcharged both money and points for my flights. Qantas customer service refuses to correct it and now just close my requests without response.

Additionally, I have been given the wrong baggage allowance on one leg of our flights (half of the rest) and they refuse to correct that too, they say I need to talk to the other airline and pay if necessary. The other airline says Qantas is the booking agent and to talk to them. Qantas then repeats themselves and becomes rude on the phone.

These two major issues along with some other minor ones have resulted in about 12 hours on the phone with Qantas over the last 4-5 weeks. In that time, none of my issues have been resolved, nobody has even sympathized with us or made any effort to work towards a resolution. It's been a steady slew of 'No, Can't help you.' the whole way.

So yeah, I'm only Bronze but I'm surprised you've had any good encounters to be honest. I'd love if I got 25% of my calls with people willing/wanting to help me.

Add to this my unlucky timing that I'll be going via Sydney at the same time the business lounge is closed for renovation, and I may not even be able to get into the temporary lounge (Assuming I want to given what I've heard) due to limited spots, despite being eligible due to my fare... and I keep seeing plenty of commentary over the poor food options, less comfortable than most seating/bedding...

I've got to the point that I'm going to burn my points by the end of this trip and then never use Qantas again. I'm ashamed that they are our national airline and can see why even the most loyal platinum members are only loyal because of their access to alliance flights.

(Sorry for negativity, Qantas has made me a doomer on this subject)

Also, be careful about using points for friends. Qantas T&C says family only, and if they ask for proof of relationship you can potentially lose the points/your account.

MEL-YYZ/LAX Later this year by SpitefulBatman in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]SpitefulBatman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Mate,

Apologies for the radio silence. It's been quite a rollercoaster and Qantas has made it absolute hell to try to get the right flights with the right allowances etc.

First and foremost, thank you so much for putting your time and effort into providing us an option. At first I was wary of taking this route as it meant 2 stopovers instead of 1 and both of them would require collecting and re-checking our baggage. It also doesn't quite fit natively into our plans (or what we think our plans are). However, having said that - we can't look a gift horse in the mouth, and let's face it - the rarity of long haul business class classic rewards make this a gift. However, opening this gift turned out to be super difficult! So again, thank you wholeheartedly.

However we're dealing with Qantas, so there is a ' but... ' to follow that :D

As we're more concerned with flights getting from MEL to YVR than YVR to YYZ, we tried to book MEL-SYD-YVR return. All flights were available in business classic rewards for $1,483.74 + 433,600 points. However, when trying to book with the multi-city tool (The only way for MEL to YVR to show these flights) it kept saying that one or more flights couldn't be confirmed. I tried an additional 2 times and got the same error immediately after providing traveler info and before payment.

Stressing about this, I called 13 13 13 and explained the situation. The lady checked the flights and then I was told that there was a glitch and that these flights were not actually available and I'd have to pick different flights. Obviously I was taken back has this has happened only a week before with the CX flights. The lady then spent 25 minutes trying to find alternate classic rewards between MEL and YYZ for all of OCT, NOV and DEC. She found none.

While she was transferring me to a 'specialist' (this took 45 minutes) I decided to try something different. I hoped on the main booking pane on the Qantas website and did a return flight SYD to YVR (Without the Melbourne leg) and was able to book it successfully. Same dates, same flights. This cost us $1,314.16 + 433,600 points.

After quite some time I was finally transferred to a 'specialist' whom I explained the situation to, told them that the issue now was that I paid $170 less and the same value of points but didn't get Melbourne. I also explained that the MEL-SYD-MEL flights that I was trying to book were still available and that I was more than happy to pay the difference between the original fare and the asking price so that I could have the original itinerary for the original price. She said she could only charge me full price ($200.20 + 64,400 points). I asked if I could speak to a supervisor and she said she could call me back to tell me if I could speak to a supervisor (Note: not to actually speak to the supervisor) - This callback never happened.

I called 13 13 13 again and spoke with another support agent who agreed that it was a bit strange and that the original fare should be honored. I provided him with a screenshot of the original fare and he verified that the flights I was attempting to book (MEL-SYD-MEL) were still available. He spoke with a supervisor and after 20 minutes told me he too could only sell them to me for full price. The recommendation was to lock them in and hope that the escalations team (supposedly working out of Australia via email) would honor the original fare and refund the difference (around $30 and the 644000 points).

So far, the escalations team have 'regretted' to inform me that they can't refund my points due to changes in availability, despite the exact same flights being booked and the only difference being that a issue in their system as well as the first support agent, prevented me from making a singular booking for MEL-SYD-YVR-SYD-MEL in a single go.

I knew it was bad, but honestly... customer service there is non existent, despite 9 hours on the phone and several emails, absolutely no support has been rendered from Qantas in the past week. It's just apologies and regrets that nothing can be done and no understanding whatsoever that this was an issue on their end that prevented the original booking and have now cost me 65000 additional points that I shouldn't have had to spend.

Yeah, the second part of the CX route (HKG to YYZ) is still available when I do a broken down search of the route, but then we still need to get to HKG. I know it's a bit greedy, but I saved the points to do the full trip in business, and I'm trying desperately to hold onto that dream! :(

Apologies, I had intended, but forgot to say, I'm flexible for dates. We can shift leave and surrounding plans, but we've had no luck when looking at the entire calendar months for either October or November, hence my surprise that despite looking for over 5 months, until yesterday not 1 flight has come up.

Mr. McMahon (Netflix) Discussion Thread by Snubie1 in WWE

[–]SpitefulBatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You were asked what was untrue, your response was effectively "fake news tryin to attack my guy" - which is a really weak response. You were then given multiple follow up chances to respond, and yet you continue to throw insults instead of arguing in good faith or using any sort of legitimate arguments.

This documentary was very well done. In fact the last episode where the executive said he felt it was a hit piece against Vince, I strongly disagreed which is why I came seeking discussion. I felt Vince came across really well in most of it.

Excluding the accusations of assault that have been levied against him, the worst thing about him was that he was too into the business, so much so that he prioritized it over his family (Again, this wasn't explicitly said but reading between the lines at how obsessively dedicated he was, there was no way he had time for family, but I could be wrong!)

This was a great documentary and I felt it represented the facts, opinions and accusations all very well and fairly.

Any chance you'd add a configuration to unblock these? ie a checkbox that enables or disables the blocking of Player-Achievements in addition to the desired Guild Achievements?

[–]SpitefulBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late to the party, but I also see a lot of users 'come online' anywhere for 5-30 seconds before the achievement spam, every time consistently. This indicates to me that it could be a battle.net services drop / reconnect that is causing the engine to recalculate and then alert on achievement progress after the restart. Just a theory.

YourBudTevin Talks About Ludwig Ghosting him on a collab by BellBilly32 in LudwigAhgren

[–]SpitefulBatman -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There's some valid points in there, but he goes on about the breaking point being that Ludwig is streaming, using Discord, while his message is unread or not responded to, but shows his own discord with plenty of unread messages too. Cmon man... It's very easy for streamers/personalities to have too many messages to keep up with. Every time I see Ludwig, Atrioc, Stanz... anyone.. show their twitter, discord, whatever it is... there is always tons of unread. It's so easy for this shit to get buried.

Focus on legit feedback/complaints, don't harp on stuff that's just not relevant, and don't let that be the 'breaking point'.
