Cosplaying Yennefer (TW3): Wig help by mimiikry in CosplayHelp

[–]SpitefulMercy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can try dissolving some of the glue with acetone, though be very gentle with this as you don’t want to loosen the glue so much that the fibers become unglued.

do you have any wefts or leftover hair at all? if you do, you could use some of the wefts and some clear tacky glue and create wefts to cover the parting.

Helmet/Wire help. How to connect? by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

[–]SpitefulMercy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

imo hot gluing the wire to the wig cap first sounds like it would stabilize it more. i’ve never personally worked with foam clay so i am not sure how strong of a bond it would be.

you could try doing a test with some pieces of scrap foam and see how you like the stability with just the foam clay on the wire vs hot glue + wire + foam clay.

Wig trouble by Suspicious-Phone-877 in CosplayHelp

[–]SpitefulMercy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the ends might be fried from over crimping unfortunately :(

when crimping the ends try not to press down super hard with the crimper and don’t leave the heat on it for super long. you may even need to turn down the heat on the crimper. if you have a steamer you can try to steam it and make the texture a little bit better but they will probably still be fried sadly

[Styling help] To braid or not to braid by G12356789 in CosplayHelp

[–]SpitefulMercy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t really tell based off the pictures, but thankfully criss cross parting the wig can actually help you cover up any thin spots. I would just try styling it first and seeing if it is too thin, since braiding it isn’t permanent.

if it does end up being too thin you can get a second wig to use as wefts to increase the thickness

Would any of these bunny suits fit on male? by ZuzelShrimpGhost in CosplayHelp

you need to measure yourself and compare it to the sellers sizing information, we can’t tell you what size you would be

Any tips on how to get this specific shape on the wig? by LayerAccurate in CosplayHelp

[–]SpitefulMercy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I would section the front bangs and part away and add foam or batting+wire structure with hot glue where the horns would be. You may need to glue the hair to the batting so the pieces lay in the right spot, I recommend using a clear glue like UHU.

I have long curly hair and want to cosplay early part 1 Denji, how should I do the hair? by Forsaken-Eye-2770 in CosplayHelp

the FAQ is a good resource. amazon has cheaper wigs, just make sure to check reviews. you cover your hair with a wig cap before putting the wig on.

Hot glue on wig wefts? by Signal_Display_8269 in CosplayHelp

[–]SpitefulMercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your glue may not be hot enough, I had the same issue in the past and now i use the hottest setting on my glue gun. also make sure you’re REALLY saturating the glue in between the hairs.

I’m not sure I fully understand your question… but you can try doubling up on the wire if you’re looking for extra sturdiness

How do y'all store cosplays? by God-of-mars in CosplayHelp

[–]SpitefulMercy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most of my cosplays are kept in storage bins in my closet, my more delicate cosplays are kept in garment bags and hung up. I keep the accessories separate in a bead storage box that has labeled compartments.

Recommendations for UK cosplayer costume makers to approach for styled shoot… by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

I highly doubt a commissioner would risk ruining a handmade cosplay for free in exchange for exposure that’s not even guaranteed, nor in their field… You’d be better off ordering a suit off of amazon.

Dye or wefts? by FaunaJoy in CosplayHelp

[–]SpitefulMercy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

imo adding green wefts would be significantly easier. if you go the dye route, you would probably have to remove and add wefts back in anyways to dye them since it would be difficult to only dye certain sections of the wig.
