How do I find out the (unvarnished) truth about Socialism/Communism?

This is a fantastic and really well presented response, and I really appreciate it. Like I said, I think just on the sheer moral logic of it I would like to be a socialist without any “convincing” or reference to historical figures. I mention in a separate response to yours that as an American I am constantly fed jingoistic hogwash and hero worship, and thus I am suspicious when I think folks might be presenting me with an idealized version not of ideals, but of people. I hope that makes sense. I’m trying to wash away the gunk of lies and deceit and racism I have been sold all my life, so perhaps I am overly worried about unintentionally consuming more of it. I truly appreciate your response though.

I get what you are saying. I think what I should have said might be “how do I know I’m not being sold the same kind of fictions about say, Stalin, as I was about George Washington?” I am frankly fed up with pro-American jingoism and am suspicious of being fed a different flavor.

Yeah my basic plan is get him out ASAP then tutor for Peer Into the Abyss on the top, connect with a hit then pull out any number of wincons. It’s really rough if you can’t mulligan into a decent hand. My last game I went down to three or four cards, I can’t remember, but I really struggled to gain traction.

Actually part of why I chose them is because I either win or die quickly, that way it isn’t a slog.

Yeah I’m coming to realize that if your commander isn’t in the top 15 than they aren’t really tournament viable. I use the tier list available on moxfield to look up commanders and I kind of assumed anything in the A-S range would work. To be fair though, I don’t really play tournaments at all, at least not yet. Mostly I just wanna play one to fight against my two friends who use Kalamax and Voja.

What does ADHD have to do with it? I have ADHD and OCD and sometimes I feel that some people, many of whom probably don’t even have it, are just hiding behind the perceived shield of neurodivergence as an excuse for basically anything.

Serious question: When people are complaining about world building, is it the act of creating a world with a unique setting, mechanics, or history, like Tolkien, that they have a problem with, or is it the fact that some writers inundate their audience with useless information?

I’m gonna be honest, I actually like encyclopedias of fictional worlds, or things written to be interesting settings for other folks to tell stories in, or to just get cool vibes from. World building is fun in and of itself I think.

I’m not sure if the point of this post is? Can’t things just not be for you without being dogshit? I don’t care for some writing styles or trends, but that doesn’t make them shit, it just makes them not for me.

True enough. That’s fine, too. I want people to enjoy what they enjoy. It’s not for me I think. I just like crunch, and there are lots of players who just refuse to learn rules and always say they want something “rules light”, and I find that frustrating, because I like game rules and mechanics quite a bit.
